All arts like music, painting, dance, etc. should be developed as sacred activities. You experience joy when you witness concerts. That joy comes from the heart. By promoting such arts the people can experience perpetual joy." - Divine Discourse, 17 Nov 1995 Radio Sai is pleased to announce a new series of competitions, 'Art from the Heart', open to all our readers and listeners. Swami always encouraged the use of the creative talents we are endowed with, to transform ourselves and to sublimate our desires. Be it the lofty Kavi Sammelans (assembly of poets), Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabhas (assembly of scholars), Burra Katha presentations, classical music concerts, dances, dramas and cultural programs during festivals, the impromptu talks by devotees and students of His schools and colleges, or the daily singing of Bhajans and songs.. Bhagawan's love for the different art forms is well-known. As Bhagawan always insists, our talents must be offered to the Lord and the Lord alone. How wonderful it would be, if in the process it can inspire us and others to experience pure love for God? Here is an opportunity to share with the Sai family your God-gifted talent in poetry and prose. This year's Guru Poornima falls on 22 July and with prayers to our beloved Sadguru, we hope to begin this exciting new endeavour on this holy occasion. Bhagawan says, "Guru is the one who illumines the path to Divinity. Poornima or full-moon stands for a mind with total illumination. It is spotless and blemish-less." Write a poem or story on the significance of Guru and/or Guru Poornima. You can submit your entries to [email protected]. In the subject field of the mail you send to us, you can mention the phrase – 'Art from the Heart'. Don't forget to send us your full name, place where you live and age. Submissions must be sent to us before 10 July 2013. Your submissions will be reviewed in each of the two categories - 'Under 18' and 'Adults'. Winning submissions will be published on Radio Sai website and the authors will receive a small token of appreciation from Team Radio Sai.
