Brother Nithin Acharya, alumnus, SSSIHL mentiones below a beautiful
conversation where Swami explains the meaning of GURU..

Swami once asked a question to all those who were in the interview room " how
do you define the term GURU ? "

Several answers came up and Swami just listened to all of them.

Dr Bhagawat who got the privilege to get entry into the interview room dozens
of times was also there and Swami asked him to break his silence and answer the
question.

Dr Bhagawat being from Maharashtra quoted from Gnaneswari, how Saint Jnaneswar
defined , " Guru is the one who dispels the darkness of ignorance and lights
the lamp of wisdom . He puts the disciple on the right path so that at the end
of his life, Jeeva ( the individual ) becomes one with Shiva (God).

Swami then replied , " ठीक है . लेकिन हमारा विचारमें short कर सकता है" :
meaning ; "In My Opinion lets make the definition short and sweet" Swami then
answered;" Guru is the one who corrects "

Then Doctor requested Swami to speak more on Guru .

Swami then told that Guru should inspire through his words and acts . He need
to first acquire skills and practice in order to achieve mastery in the area of
his teaching. Only then he can correct the mistakes of his disciples ..

This was the event of the year 1995.
