Hush…You Can Hear The Anguished Cry Of The Holy Chitravathi…
Saturday, August 31st, 2013
What Sarayu was for Lord Sri Rama and what Yamuna was for Bhagawan Sri
Krishna…when it comes to the present age, it is Chitravathi for Beloved Mother
Sai…Many are the wonderful tales she holds close to her heart, tales illumined
by the touch of Avatar Of All Avatars – Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai…Is it easy for
us, His contemporaries, to just give up, forget and forego this priceless
perennial stream…that undoubtedly serves as an icon of abundance and
auspiciousness. Hailing her pristine glory, wailing for her current plight, Sri
Jullie Chaudhuri writes, beseeching each and everyone with a heart and soul to
pray to Bhagawan to bring back the Supreme Glory of this ‘River Perennial’.
Chitravathi Thata Vishaala Sushantha Soudhe
Thisthanthi Sevaka Janaah Thava Darshanaartham
On the exceedingly serene and tranquil shores of Chitravathi,
Exists our heart’s own glorious mansion…
Those devoted longingly await a moment to serve Thee,
Yearning…craving to be blessed eternally with glimpses of Thee…

Time was when the holy Chitravathi,
Would await the tinkling sound…
Of ‘young’ Sathya’s melodious voice,
Then she would increase her pace, gurgle,
and rejoice,
Gushing forth to wash her Master’s exquisite Lotus Feet,
Sprinkling all with a soft gentle spray…
…she would the rest of the gathering gregariously greet…
She could never hide her joy, never be discreet,
She knew many were waiting further along her shores,
To reverentially touch her waters…
With their awe none could compete,
She would then flow on to anoint all,
With her Swami’s bliss totally replete…
…where, reminiscing her time with her Lord,
Her heart once did with ecstasy leap,
Hush…why did holy Chitravathi now in anguish weep…?

As is chronicled in texts extremely revered and sacred,
Upon Earth whenever the Lord decided to incarnate,
The element of water chose to remain close,
With historic tales its droplets would incessantly reverberate,
Each grain of sand on her hallowed banks,
Could tirelessly enumerate,
The Lord’s glory and sigh…
…as time ever so gently passed by…
Whether it was Ayodhya or Mathura,
Sarayu or Yamuna,
Or atop the sacred matted locks of Shiva…
…the unsurpassably pristine Ganga…
A river always abided close by,
And so it was…with the present advent of the Supreme Person…
When that Eternal Entity,
That Superlative Consciousness…
…resolved to enchant all hearts as Sathya Sai…
Whereby,
This immaculate element this time chose the name Chitravathi,
Forever…henceforth to be linked with His story…
Flowing joyfully through the sacred terrain of Puttaparthi…
Where, sweetly reminiscing her time with Her Lord,
Her soul, on all, did mighty benedictions heap,
Why then the tender-hearted Chitravathi…
…now in agony weep…?

The sands of Chitravathi was a venue divine,
Where our Beloved Lord, as an ‘adolescent’ Sathya,
Chose to frolic and enact many a Cosmic Pantomime,
Enigmatic and mysterious were His ways,
She witnessed astoundingly spectacular celestial leelas,
Her silent delight…nothing could erase,
As the Lord continued to charm all with His sportive plays…
Where, reminiscing her time with Her Lord,
Her enchantment once set her shores aglow…
…with just one sweep,
Why then the mellow Chitravathi…
…now in distress and misery weep…?

With bated breath time would freeze,
Sweets for some…while for others various delicious savouries,
Oft it was Rosary beads,
Then again,
One time, out of the golden sands,
Appeared in Telugu script for a particular devotee,
That supremely transcendental text -
The Bhagawad Gita,
While on a another occasion some were specifically blessed,
With exclusive idols of Parvati and Shiva…
Inexplicably mystifying were the fascinating miracles…
…of the ‘teenaged’ Sathya…
Where, reminiscing her time with her Lord,
Her essence once did immense contentment reap,
Why did the wondrous Chitravathi…
…now in acute torment weep…?

Has the hallowed shores of Chitravathi lost its identity completely?
Where has all the reverence gone?
Why does she appear shorn and forlorn…?
Though her name resounds in the Lord’s Suprabhatam,
However, these days she seems bereft of a dawn…
Do we have time to pause…
…to ponder a bit upon the cause…
Her seeping waters remain polluted,
Her gurgling laughter utterly muted,
Once upon a time,
The Beloved Lord’s precious footprints did her sands grace,
Yet, at present, sewage and garbage gets pride of place…

Her banks though are adorned with Swami Karunyananda’s Samadhi,
Nowadays, due to callous disregard -
Piles of plastic refuse, filth, grime and rubbish,
Abound amply…relentlessly…
Leaving nothing but a trickle of tears upon her heaving bosom…
Where once you could touch her waters…
…and chance upon her joyful heartbeat,
Presently her tears have perforce dried…succumbing to defeat,
Her waters thus face an enormous deplete…

Where have we gone wrong…?
What happened to her euphoric song…?
Our insensitive and inconsiderate ways…apathetic unconcern…and unfeeling
impassiveness,
Has hurt her deep…leaving nothing more for her to reap…making her want to
forever retreat…
In anguish her soul does weep,
Hush, you can hear the heaving sighs and anguished cry,
Of the holy Chitravathi…
Together shouldn’t we do something to restore her past glory,
Her noble beauty,
And thus set Mother Chitravathi free,
To perennially reminisce her glorious destiny…
That…she originated for and from Sathya Sai…
She longs for Him…she belongs to Him…
And so also…she flowed for Him exclusively…
Fluidly…
…splendid and magnificent…as a spectacular part of His story…
Shouldn’t she do so once again…bubbling forth…
…expressively…vividly…vibrantly…?

What can be done,
To make her smilingly rise to the brim once again…?
What can be done to melt away her pain…?
Ever so lonely for her Lord,
Whom, with every single drop…she so completely adored,
And incessantly… persistently…consistently adores…
Now…
For Him,
Even as she longs, yearns, pines and craves,
With intense intent and wholesome feeling,
Each one of us,
Could send tender love and care her way,
In person or be it…through thought waves…
It is time to let her know we care,
Echoing her emotions…
Her sensitive sentiments we do share…

Genuine concern, gentle reassurance,
Eloquent soft-hearted affection,
…that does caress…each of her diminishing waves…
…that consoles, comforts, fortifies, saves, encourages,
Confidence engraves…
Perhaps her will it would help sustain,
Till her supreme ardor,
Attracts her Lord to her terrain…
…to her patiently awaiting shores once again…
Only her Lord’s touch can help her…
…her joyfully gurgling cascade regain…
Oft she did ponder on the glory her sister Sarayu did attain,
When, while signifying the conclusion of His Advent,
Lord Rama walked symbolically…
Mystically into her waters…
Her secret desire for just such an exalted honour,
Chitravati did in silent awe entertain…
…as and when that crucial, critically decisive moment,
Of the present Ultimate Force,
Humanity would eventually have to face,
Her aspiration for just such an enormous grace,
She could never feign,
Often she would wonder…
…would such an illustrious privilege…
… ever personally to her fate pertain…
For the axiomatic truth is…that…
Beloved Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai…
…does Mother Chitravathi’s very essence forever reign…

Sathya Sai Darshanam – The Beauty Beyond Compare!!!

Gone are those golden days when He would often pause, during His darshan
rounds, for a while upon crossing the ladies’ side, moving His right palm in
the air followed by a writing gesture with His Divine index finger, then, fix
His gaze downward, while lifting His flowing red robe help walking Himself!
Though this inimitable Divine action is not repeated anymore, front benchers
could still see Him moving His palm in typical Sai style, while His glance
remain fixed to “eternity”. This evening, 30 Aug 2010, was blessed to witness
this rare beauty of Divine spectacle!
Given below is an excerpt from the ‘Darshan Story’ on 30 August 2010 in
Prasanthi Nilayam as chronicled by The Prasanthi Reporter…
Let’s read..assimilate…live with it and thus manifest HIM, our Beloved Mother

Mon, Aug 30, 2010: Today, in the evening, it rained heavily much before
Bhagawan made His grand entry into the Sai Kulwant Hall. As if warming the
chilly backdrop, Bhagawan emerged with a yellow cover on top just after 1750
hrs., coming for a complete round. Finishing the round, Bhagawan just went into
the ladies’ side only to turn back to come onto the portico. Blessing a group
of students working with the Media and Publications Division, blessed to engage
in media coverage, Bhagawan moved on, blessing the African veteran Victor
Krishna Kanu before coming onstage just before 1815 hrs., marked by a crescendo
in the bhajans.
Rains and overcast sky hastened the arrival of twilight that shone with
brilliance under the gleam in Sai Kulwant Hall. Bhagawan sat through for the
next half-an-hour, often seen glancing through the letters from devotees.

At 1845 hrs. Bhagawan turned to the priest indicating Mangala Arathi. Before
moving off the dais, Bhagawan raised His benedictory palm in abhayahastha, for
both ladies and gents.

Though this inimitable Divine action is not repeated anymore, front benchers
could still see Him moving His palm in typical Sai style, while His glance
remain fixed to “eternity”. This evening, just before leaving the dais, He did
it once giving the concourse a glimpse of those reminiscing moments of yester
years, a ‘language’ that is known only to ‘the Gods’. Moving off, Bhagawan
glided into the ladies’ side at 1850 hrs. retiring for the day.

How fortunate it is to earn the privilege of serving The Lord, as part of your
job… Bhagawan’s institutions in Prasanthi Nilayam, Bangalore, Anantapur and

selfless service has often been rewarded with Divine Blessings…this day, 29

Sun, Aug 29, 2010: Today, on this weekend, fifth and final sunday for August
2010, Bhagawan emerged at 1715 hrs. to the holy chants of Vedam, joined en
masse by the tiny tots from Primary School. Finishing a full round, Bhagawan
paused at the tiny tots, watching and listening them chanting the Vedam ‘face
to Face’ unto Him! After pausing for almost two minutes, listening to the final
strains of the holy chanting, when bhajans began at the scheduled hour,
Bhagawan moved off, gliding further into the ladies’ end. Turning about
shortly, Bhagawan came onto the portico, proceeding for a complete round of the
portico, moving through the lower verandah to the upper one, gliding past to
move into the bhajan hall through the main entrance. Emerging shortly, Bhagawan
moved onstage at 1743 hrs.

As bhajans went on, at 1808 hrs., Bhagawan moved off the dais, moving into the
interview room. …As Bhagawan remained inside, the weekend evening was gradually
sliding into her pale dark complexion. …And He emerged…
Emerging at 1825 hrs. Bhagawan moved through the upper portico, blessing many,
before turning about from halfway sliding into the lower portico Bhagawan moved
further, soon to pick up a senior devotee to return to the interview room for a
brief session.

Returning shortly, Bhagawan came onstage to the “final bhajan”
‘Subramanyam…Subramanyam…’ and soon He called for Mangala Arathi. Upon
accepting Arathi at 1840 hrs., Bhagawan moved off, gliding into the ladies’
side at 1845 hrs. retiring for the day.

WEEKEND SPL: Kalpagiri - an immortal story of how Swami transformed a murderer
(Drama form)

This is the touching story of transformation - a story in which Swami entered
the hardened heart of a murderer and made it melt in repentance. The touch
heart transformed into an ideal for society.

Does this not depict what the Avatars come to do - Destroy wickedness and
uplift goodness? Only difference in the Sai Avatar has been that instead of the
person himself, the wickedness in the heart is destroyed.
So dramatic is this story (and the linked story of another murderer) that it
has been presented in a drama form. (Any BalVikas teacher out there wanting to
use this as a drama script?)

Enjoy this tale of transformation of Kalpagiri...
