Story behind this Photo: 116 : The Red stone in Mangalasuthram.
Please view the photo. This is a Mangalasuthram used for weddings in
Maharashtra, Karnataka, Andhra etc. On my 60th Birthday, Bhagavan created a
similar Mangalasuthra. But it had two strings whereas this photo shows a
single string. It had a Pendent (Bottu), similar to the one in the photo.
Swami pointed out and told that He had kept a Red Stone in the pendent. At
that time, I did not realize the implication of this casual remark by Bhagavan.
After 2 years, while my wife was showing this Mangalasuthram and the pendent to
a neighbour lady, the Red stone suddenly disappeared from the pendent, leaving
a cavity there. Within couple of days, I suffered a severe Heart attack. I was
brought to Puttaparthi and admitted in the Super Specialty Hospital. Swami was
kind enough to send vibhuthi created by Him. By His Grace, I came out of the
Hospital well, after an Angioplasty.
2 days after discharge, I was sitting in Darshan Lines. Swami came near me and
enquired, “How do you feel now? Are you all right?”. I replied that by His
Anugraham, (Blessings), I am fine. As Swami was moving away from me, I tried to
say, “Swami, my wife’s.....”. Swami did not wait to finish my question. He
curtly replied, “Oh, that is nothing. She was to loose her “Kumkum” , but
instead I took away the Red stone”. So saying Swami walked away. I was awe
struck.
Kumkum is bindi (the red coloured powder) which the ladies wear on their
forehead. After their husband pass away, they are not allowed to have this
Bindi. But here Swami had willed that my wife could still have it, by saving
me.
With Love & Regards, MUMBAI SRINIVASAN
