'Value-based education is need of the hour'
Monday, October 07, 2013
By A Staff Reporter

“Students today are lacking a humanitarian approach and hence value based
education is the need of the hour. Youngsters are trapped in the criminal web
of cyber crimes, consumption of drugs, liquor and other tobacco based products.
The ones away from these ill practices opt for professional education and very
few go for research”, said eminent physicist and Padmashri Dr. G.Venkataraman,
speaking at a symposium on ‘Integral Human Values Education’ organised at the
Kalina Campus of the University of Mumbai this weekened.

The symposium was organised by the Sri Sathya Sai Trust, Maharashtra and the
Sri Sathya Seva Organisations, Maharashtra and Goa as part of their endeavor to
bring into focus the need for integral human value based education in all
faculties of learning.

The event was chaired by Venkatraman and the speakers included prominent
personalities such as D.P.Sawant, Minister of State for Higher and Technical
Education, Maharashtra, Dr. Rajan M. Welukar, Vice-Chancellor, University of
Mumbai and Dr. Naresh Chandra, Pro-Vice-Chancellor,University of Mumbai, Dr.
Snehalata Deshmukh, Former Vice-Chancellor, University of Mumbai and Dr.
B.G.Pitre, leading educationist & Director of Sri Sathya Sai Institute of
Education.

Venkatraman said that it is a matter of great concern that the next generation
does not follow ethical values and the humane approach. Value based education
is desperately needed as the future of the country lies in their hands. The
youth today is under the unbearable burden of competition in their academics,
forcing them to trace on book based studies. Now it is up to the educational
institutions and universities to make them adapt to value based education.

Dr. Rajan M. Welukar, Vice-Chancellor, University of Mumbai said that it was a
high time that universities adapt a value based education. “At Mumbai
University, we have also emphasized on value based education and will continue
to deliver the same,” he said.

D.P.Sawant, Minister of State for Higher and Technical Education, Maharashtra
said that the line of teachers, from whom students could take inspiration, is
missing. The education that leads to skill development and subsequent
employability is necessary, but at the same time, values inculcated in the
youth would help in building a great nation.

Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha – Day 2
Thursday, October 10th, 2013
Sri Sathya Sai Grama Seva, the Karma Yoga initiated by Bhagawan reached its 4th
day yesterday while the Veda Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajnam into its second day
here in Prasanthi Nilayam. On the fourth day of the Grama Seva a total
population of 34,600 people in 6,300 households in Bukkapatnam mandal were
covered.

The evening session, Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha, the archetype assembly of the
learned, featured three speeches and a scintillating musical offering by the
students of Brindavan Campus of SSSIHL.

The session commenced with invocatory Veda chanting by the students of Sri
Sathya Sai Higher Secondary School. The first speaker for the session was Sri R
Ganesan, an BBM student at the Muddenahalli Campus of SSSIHL. Speaking about
mind and its vagaries, the wandering mind, Ganesan narrated his own experience
with reference to his admission in the Institute that gave a boost to his
confidence in his own self and faith in Bhagawan. Being in Bhagawan’s Institute
allows the student to grow spiritually helping to evolve training him to
contemplate within, said the grateful student who spoke with great elan and
confidence.

The next speaker Sri Sai Sathyanarayanan, a final year undergraduate student,
began with a story on Selfless Love emphasising that God is a 4-letter word,
L-O-V-E. Speaking about Grama Seva in brief, narrating a beautiful experience
of a student’s warm, loving spontaneous response to a ‘self-styled’ outcast who
did not want the student to go near him, the young speaker highlighted how the
Karma Yoga is helping students to evolve, blossoming them into worthy
instruments in Sai mission. Narrating a beautiful incident from Mar 2011
illustrating the efficacy of selfless prayer, the young speaker concluded with
a wonderful quote, “turn yourself to God and stay tuned to God.”

The third speaker Miss Maitali Verma, a doctoral research scholar from the
Anantapur Campus of SSSIHL spoke of the 10 commandments she learned from her 10
years at Bhagawan’s Lotus Feet. Presenting a research-oriented thesis on
Bhagawan’s teachings, Bhagawan’s messages or Sai’s sayings, the speaker
emphasised that one will be able to practise His teachings, the ten
commandments if he/she three S’s with him/her…that is SRI SATHYA SAI.

Bhagawan’s Divine discourse followed next wherein Bhagawan emphasised on the
importance of leading a life of character.
The final programme was a musical offering by the students of Brindavan Campus.
Singing their hearts out to Beloved Swami, showing great commitment and
dedication, blossoming talents from the Campus regaled the audience with their
professional approach, receiving rounds of applause.

Bhajans continued and ended with Bhagawan singing Om Shivaya…Om Shivaya…
Mangala Arathi was offered at 1900 hrs. marking the end of the session.

Tripura Rahasyam
Thursday, October 10th, 2013
Who is really Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba…? How best and authentic can He be
described…? His mystery is beyond the understanding of the finite mind…why,
attempting to glorify The Supreme Cosmic Godhood of Sri Sathya Sai, from Whom
emanates millions and millions of Brahmands only to dissolve back unto Him, one
can venture to say that His Supreme Truth is a mystery even the Trinities and
Goddess Tripura… Read on a beautiful ‘revealing’ story of His Divine Mystery,
the Real Tripura Rahasyam…as revealed by Bhagawan Himself…extracted from a
speech by Sri Sai Giridhar Sai Ram in the immediate Divine Presence in Sai
Kulwant Hall.
Once a devotee asked Bhagawan: “Swami, what is Tripura Rahasyam?” Bhagawan
smiled and said, “Let Me tell you a story.” He continued, “Brahma, Vishnu and
Maheshwara once had a doubt. Now if we have a doubt we can go to our teacher,
if great Masters have a doubt they approach Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara… but if
these Lords themselves have a doubt Whom will they approach? Brahma, Vishnu and
Maheshwara approached the Shakti or Tripura Devi Who created them, the Shakti
that manifested them. Mother Tripura Devi humbly submitted and said, “Even I do
not have answer to Your questions”.
“But I do know where You can find an answer to this question of Yours. So She
took Brahma, Vishnu and Maheshwara of that Brahmanda (universe) to a location.
It had a huge gateway and She flung it open and in there they saw a long
hallway.”

Swami then said, “On the both sides of the hallway there were thousands of
thrones and the four legs of the thrones were Brahma, Vishnu, Maheshwara and
Tripura Devi. These three Gods Who had this doubt in their minds were stunned
to see thousands of Brahmas, Vishnus, Maheshwaras and Tripura Devis. They
thought they were alone but then they were more inquisitive to see Whom were
they prostrating to. At the end of the hallway they saw a beautiful Lotus Feet
and when they craned their neck to see Who that personality was, they saw
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba.
Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba is The Cosmic Avatar, He is the Adi Purusha Who
manifested Himself to become Shakti and that Shakti in turn manifested into
many Tripura Devis and each one initiated a creation. Even science recognizes
today that there could be several universes in parallel. There are many
Brahmandas (universes) and the Adi Purusha (Primordial Being) Who manifested
the Adi Shakti to initiate creation, the Power Who willed to manifest into many
Brahmandas Itself came here on this beautiful Earth as a Cosmic Visitor.” Such
is the beautiful Form of our Lord Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai!!!

Dasara Divine Discourse
Dasara in the Divine Presence has seen many hues over the years. From the
palanquin procession and worship by sumangalis in the 1940's and 50's; Veda
Purusha Saptaha Jnana Yajna and Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha from the 1960's to
the Grama Seva in the new millennium (the last three continuing till this day).
But what has always been an exquisite treat for those that attend Dasara in
Prasanthi, is the Divine message that Bhagawan gave on all the seven days when
the Vidwan Maha Sabha was convened. The Rig Veda extols the Lord as Kavim
Kavinaam - the Wisdom of the Wise. What greater way to celebrate a Dasara then
than to receive benediction from the embodiment of Wisdom Himself.

To mark this year's Dasara, we wish to offer you a Discourse clip on every day
starting from today, 8 Oct 2013, the day Prasanthi Vidwan Mahasabha 2013
commences till Vijayadashami, 14 Oct. These are from discourses delivered by
Bhagawan during the Dasara of the year 2002. So watch the space below for the
discourse clip of the day during this entire Dasara Celebrations.

The Weight Of Longing
Posted on October 2, 2013by For Beloved Mother Sai
Palkein jhuki hai…
Saansey ruki hai
Tum bin Sai ab chaen nahi hai…
The weight of longing…has lowered my eyelids…
The breath too has come to a standstill…
Along with this…
…Oh! Beloved One…
…without You…
…in Your absence…
…together with vitality…
…my substance…
…and peace too…have bid me an arid adieu…
Tumhey kaisey bataen Maa…
Suni hai sangeet,
Tujhsey judi hai,
Har ek umeed,
Terey darshan sey hogi Maa,
Armaano ki jeet,
Tum toh ho, Maa…
Merey Praan aur Preet…
When my melody is bereft of harmony…how can I express my adoration to You…every
hope is interwoven with You…my aspirations will find fulfillment…and be
triumphant…only when I behold a sight of You…when You grant me glimpses of
You…given that…You, Beloved Mother Sai…are my life breath…my essence…and my
eternally endearing love…
Palkein jhuki hai…
Saansey ruki hai
Tum bin Sai ab chaen nahi hai…
The weight of longing…has lowered my eyelids…
The breath too has come to a standstill…
Along with this…
…Oh! Beloved One…
…without You…
…in Your absence…
…together with vitality…
…my substance…
…and peace too…have bid me an arid adieu…
Ye dil ab Tujhko har waqt pukaarey,
Sadiyon sey ye nayan,
Neer bahaye…
Dadhkane bhi bus ab,
Tujhi mey samaaye,
Ab laut ke aao Sai pyaare…
Oh Beloved Mother Sai…my heart calls out to You…with every moment that passes
by…
For You…since eons…streams have gushed forth from these eyes…heartbeats too are
submerged wholly in You…Come back…this very moment…of Your appearance let there
be a breakthrough…Oh! Come now…my Beloved You…
Palkein jhuki hai…
Saansey ruki hai
Tum bin Sai ab chaen nahi hai…
The weight of longing…has lowered my eyelids…
The breath too has come to a standstill…
Along with this…
…Oh! Beloved One…
…without You…
…in Your absence…
…together with vitality…
…my substance…
…and peace too…have bid me an arid adieu…
