“This is My Lawn. Do not alter it” – These were the words uttered by Bhagavan
Baba. There is a ramp behind Sathya Deep, which is Swami’s entry point to His
Divine Abode. As we face Sathya Deep, there is a pathway on our right side of
the ramp, and small landscaped LAWN on our left side. There was a proposal to
remove the lawn and make a pathway, just like on the other side. When
permission was sought, Bhagavan uttered these words. Even now this mentioned
as Baba’s Lawn.
During Divine visits to Mumbai, Swami stayed in Dharmakshthra. After all
Divine schedules, late in the evenings, Swami used to spend about an hour or
so, sitting on this lawn and enjoy classical Music. Renowned singers like Late
Sri. Bhimsen Joshi and Madam Parveen Sultana, and Sri. Raviraj Nassery and
few other singers had performed in Divine Presence. The unique feature was,
there would not be any sound system (Mic system). Music would be on natural
audio ambient. The V.I.P devotees who used to accompany Bhagavan would also
be present.
The singers would be singing, sitting on the lawns. There will be a chair for
Swami. Once a devotee brought a divine Throne designed as Adisesha, which is
shown in this photo. Later this Throne was taken to Puttaparthi for a
function, during Birthday celebrations.
I had two happy moments in Baba’s Lawns. My eldest son Sri. Venkatesh Iyer was
selected as the best Bal vikas Bhajan singer from Maharashtra, and the awards
were to be given away by Bhagavan Himself, during his visit to Mumbai. . My son
along with other Bal vikas students, were made wait on this Lawn. Bhagavan came
down from Sathya Deep, walked over to the boys in lawn. Swami had some nice
words with them and handed over the covers containing award amounts.
The other event was concerning me. Swami visited Central Jail in Thane, where
we were conducting Sai Bhajans regularly. The next day we were made to wait in
the same Lawn. We were personally blessed by Bhagavan and had the unique chance
getting Pada Namaskasram , just outside Sathya Deep.
With Love & Regards, Mumbai Srinivasan.
