Morning :

Darshan was at around 7.00 am. Students and staff assembled in the Mandir after
the morning Independence Day function in the Institute, the Higher Secondary
School and the Primary School. After that, all came to Mandir.

Swami : (To Prof. Anil Kumar) Vajpayee (Prime Minister of India) gave an
inspiring speech. Did you hear?

Prof. A. K. : No, Swami.

Swami : Last night, President (Sri K. R. Narayanan) spoke. He spoke about
Veerappan and violence in the country. (Swami told a few Primary School
students and an Institute student to speak.) Primary School boys have
innocence. That’s why they speak well.

Prof. A. K. : Swami, why don’t we have innocence?

Swami : It is because of ego. Due to ego, innocence is lost. Ego leads to fear.

Prof. A. K. : Swami, is it true that with advance of age, innocence is lost?

Swami : No, it is not due to age, but due to physical strength. (Swami also
mentioned that ego which rises due to physical strength does not go away when
strength goes away at old age.) Children are able to speak due to their inner
purity. When fear sets in your heart, you will feel more load.

Then Swami went back to the interview room.
