During the evening Darshan, Swami came to the boys sitting near the garage and
said…

Swami : Go and sit there. (Pointing to the third block. Then near the Ganesh
portico to Prof. Anil Kumar) I told the boys to come and sit here and they all
ran. Why should they all run? They can walk calmly. All devotees will wonder
whether they are horses or students. They should not run like this.

Prof. A. K. : Yes, Swami, it is wrong.

Swami : Horse-teachers, horse-students. You should teach them not to run.

(Swami went to the interview room to get some bags of clothes to distribute to
a group of devotees. To students) This is not for you all. After the Bangalore
students come, I will give you all clothes and send you all up. (After a pause)
Up or down?

Student : Up, Swami.

Swami : (While going, Swami took a letter from a student saying jokingly) I
will beat you. Daily you are giving a letter. (Swami went and distributed the
clothes. He also created a ring for a member of the group. Then on His way back)

Student : Swami, I am having stomach ache.

Swami : (Jokingly) Yes. It should pain more. (Swami took some more letters from
students. To a student) See, that boy (pointing to the School student next to
him) is very silent in Mandir but, is very naughty in the Hostel. (To an
Institute student) You came late but are sitting in the front. (After
interview, pointing a Laddu vessel to Prof. Anil Kumar) See, these Laddus have
to be distributed to that group of devotees (implying the Muslim devotees to
whom Swami had distributed clothes). They wanted Swami’s permission to build a
Kalyana Mandapam. I told them to continue. They want to name it ‘Sri Sathya Sai
Allah Kalyana Mandapam’. It is good.

A student came forward, took the vessel and along with Prof. Anil Kumar and
distributed it to the group. At 4.40 pm, Swami came to the first block and took
a book from one of the guests asking him…

Swami : Why have you named it as ‘Education in Human Values’? You should add
‘Sri Sathya Sai’ in front of it. Germany, U.S.A., all have their own human
values. If you put ‘Sri Sathya Sai’, then it takes some shape. Why are you
afraid to put Swami’s name? Why do you apply brakes before any good work? Why
are you afraid? Did you show the book to Indulal Shah (Chairman, Sri Sathya Sai
World Council; Trustee, Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust)? (After turning over its
pages) I am not telling you to put My name for My sake. I am telling it for the
sake of the public. Everyone has his own human values. You cannot give anyone
human values. One has to develop them on his own. (To the old students) How
many boys are there?

Student : Swami, 23.

Swami : What? November 23rd (laughed). Before there were not so many. I sent
some boys to Delhi. Then how is it that there are so many boys?
