Do not do anything to earn praise from others.
For I am the witness to every act. Those who praise you today, May blame you tomorrow. So do it for Me and Me alone. Because My love for you stays the same. From: Sai Darshan by Seema Dewan December 13 A rich merchant traveled to a holy place to attend a festival being celebrated there. A thief, who had figured out what this man’s plans were, attached himself as a companion, hoping to rob the hefty purse. That night when the rich man had gone to sleep, the thief stealthily rose and hunted all over for the merchant’s bag. It was nowhere to be found. The next morning, he casually said to the merchant, “I hear that thieves abound in these locations. I hope you are taking good care of your bag which holds all of your money. “Oh yes” said the merchant, “ last night I hid it under your pillow. See how safe it is”. So saying, he pulled it out from under the thief’s pillow. God is like that merchant. He has placed the bag containing all wisdom, strength and happiness in the head of man. But man is ignorant of this and seeks it outside.
