UGADI 2015 NEWS FROM PUTTAPARTHI
Aum Sairam dearest Sai Family Wishing every one out there a holy new year UGADI which according to Telugu Calender is called as "Manmatha" named after Krishna and Rukmini's son. The beautiful Sai Kulwanth hall was beautifully decorated as many devotees came to the mandir to seek blessings of our beloved Lord in the morning of New Year. The devotees mostly from Hyderabad and neighboring places about 1500 in number, are here on a 2 day pilgrimage to Prasanthi Nilayam. It was so nice of them to come in such big numbers that too on such an important festival where many prefer to spend with family and friends in their respective native places. This shows of their devotion to Swami and how much they love Him. Brother Gopi from Hyderabad introduced the audience the programme for the day. He did a beautiful rendering of Swami's most famous verse "Khanda Khandantara Khyati narjinchina" by changing the last lines where he said, "to uphold the great culture of Bharath it is in our (devotees') hands. The traditional way of starting this festival is the "Panchanga Sravanam" where in a learnt scholar/priest will give the detailed forecast for the year with regards to political, economical, climatic conditions that will prevail in the country. The scholar also gives a full year prediction of all the sun signs. This morning it was Shri. Shiva Subramanyam, an ardent devotee of Bhagawan and also the principal of Tirumala Tirupathi Devastanam (TTD) veda patashala (vedic school). Using his scholastic excellence, even before he could start he repeated what Swami said, "When you have My "Anugraha (blessings) no "graha" (planet) can disturb you. After the "panchanga Sravanam" it was the turn of Prof.Kamaraju Suguna Ratnakar, a long time devotee, Former dean of NIMS (Hyderabad) and present director of Globa hospitals, Hyderabad. Not many are aware that he is brother of Prof.Anil Kumar. He said Swami stressed on Unity in "Prasanthi Vahini" and that unity begins with you. There needs to be unity between Thought, word and deed. All three together is the beginning of Unity. Being a faculty of medicine, he also touched up on the stress management and how people, especially the youth are undergoing stress. He opined that the best lubricant for stress is "Prema" and chanting of the Divine Name. He also shared a small conversation which he had with Swami when he said he is teaching the science of Roga (disease) Nirdharana ( ascertainment) and Swami replied today science needs to look at "Nivarana" (Prevention) and just Nirdharana. He also shared a beautiful story of Jayadeva and the two thieves who amputated his hands Nirdharana nivarana The morning programme ended with a video of Swami's divine discourse taken from previous Ugadi celebrations followed by bhajans and prasadam distribution. How ever the check-in time closes at 7:30 pm and one needs to find out if any provision is made for devotees whose flights land bit late in the afternoon and they reach Parthi after 7:30 pm and before 9:30 pm after the gates of Prasanthi are closed. After the members of Sai Organisation of Hyderabad briefed the service activities taken up, the delightful musical concert of Smt.Nitya Santhoshini and Sri Nihal delighted the audience which was then followed by few beautiful bhajans. The two day programme will continue again today (sunday, 22 nd March 2015) with a musical programme by the Shivam bhajan group. It was a beautiful programme indeed. SATHYA SAI WATER PROJECT TO QUENCH THE THIRST OF PUTTAPARTHI Puttaparthi in the recent years is going through a rough patch with depleting ground water levels which have gone as deep as 500 feet. Even though it is a very common thing in this drought hit Anantapur district Puttaparthi some how was "exempted" with this problem, but the lack of water in Chitravathi river and also very scanty rainfall the problem has only worsened. This water project which is 70% completed will cover the whole of Puttaparthi village, Kovalaguttapalli, Yanamula palli, Brahmanapalli and also the Super speciality hospital area.
