Aum Sairam dearest Sai Family

Wishing every one out there a holy new year UGADI which according to Telugu
Calender is called as "Manmatha" named after Krishna and Rukmini's son.

The beautiful Sai Kulwanth hall was beautifully decorated as many devotees came
to the mandir to seek blessings of our beloved Lord in the morning of New Year.
The devotees mostly from Hyderabad and neighboring places about 1500 in number,
are here on a 2 day pilgrimage to Prasanthi Nilayam. It was so nice of them to
come in such big numbers that too on such an important festival where many
prefer to spend with family and friends in their respective native places. This
shows of their devotion to Swami and how much they love Him.

Brother Gopi from Hyderabad introduced the audience the programme for the day.
He did a beautiful rendering of Swami's most famous verse "Khanda Khandantara
Khyati narjinchina" by changing the last lines where he said, "to uphold the
great culture of Bharath it is in our (devotees') hands.

The traditional way of starting this festival is the "Panchanga Sravanam" where
in a learnt scholar/priest will give the detailed forecast for the year with
regards to political, economical, climatic conditions that will prevail in the
country. The scholar also gives a full year prediction of all the sun signs.

This morning it was Shri. Shiva Subramanyam, an ardent devotee of Bhagawan and
also the principal of Tirumala Tirupathi Devastanam (TTD) veda patashala
(vedic school).

Using his scholastic excellence, even before he could start he repeated what
Swami said, "When you have My "Anugraha (blessings) no "graha" (planet) can
disturb you.

After the "panchanga Sravanam" it was the turn of Prof.Kamaraju Suguna
Ratnakar, a long time devotee, Former dean of NIMS (Hyderabad) and present
director of Globa hospitals, Hyderabad. Not many are aware that he is brother
of Prof.Anil Kumar.

He spoke today in Telugu highlighting the essence of Sai Philosophy mostly
quoting from Swami's Vahinis. He said Swami stressed on Unity in "Prasanthi
Vahini" and that unity begins with you. There needs to be unity between
Thought, word and deed. All three together is the beginning of Unity.

Being a faculty of medicine, he also touched up on the stress management and
how people, especially the youth are undergoing stress. He opined that the best
lubricant for stress is "Prema" and chanting of the Divine Name. He also shared
a small conversation which he had with Swami when he said he is teaching the
science of Roga (disease) Nirdharana ( ascertainment) and Swami replied today
science needs to look at "Nivarana" (Prevention) and just Nirdharana.

He also shared a beautiful story of Jayadeva and the two thieves who amputated
his hands

Nirdharana nivarana

The morning programme ended with a video of Swami's divine discourse taken from
previous Ugadi celebrations followed by bhajans and prasadam distribution.

How ever the check-in time closes at 7:30 pm and one needs to find out if any
provision is made for devotees whose flights land bit late in the afternoon and
they reach Parthi after 7:30 pm and before 9:30 pm after the gates of Prasanthi
are closed.

After the members of Sai Organisation of Hyderabad briefed the service
activities taken up, the delightful musical concert of Smt.Nitya Santhoshini
and Sri Nihal delighted the audience which was then followed by few beautiful
bhajans.

SATHYA SAI WATER PROJECT TO QUENCH THE THIRST OF PUTTAPARTHI

Puttaparthi in the recent years is going through a rough patch with depleting
ground water levels which have gone as deep as 500 feet. Even though it is a
very common thing in this drought hit Anantapur district Puttaparthi some how
was "exempted" with this problem, but the lack of water in Chitravathi river
and also very scanty rainfall the problem has only worsened.

Understanding the severity of the problem, The Sri Sathya Sai Central Trust is
now laying pipelines to supply pure drinking water to the residents of
Puttaparthi. This water project which is 70% completed will cover the whole of
Puttaparthi village, Kovalaguttapalli, Yanamula palli, Brahmanapalli and also
the Super speciality hospital area.

Lets hope this year brings good news to the farming class in particular in the
form of good rains..

With Pranams at the lotus feet of our beloved Lord,

R. Satish Naik
