No wonder it took Darwin 20 years to publish it for fear of upsetting the Church of the day (and his wife, who was very religious).There is still a very vocal opposition to teaching the theory, specially in religious schools (which are funded by my tax dollars here in Ontario). Don't know if you are aware but a leading opponent of this credible science (Ken Ham of AnswersInGenesis.org) has spent over US$25million to build a 70,000 sq.ft. Creation Museum to provide entertainment to the gullible public that dinosaurs and people co-existed and the earth is less than 10,000 years old. Even Fr. Nascimento would laugh at such a waste of precious resources.So if we don't take our origins seriously, we're bound to go extinct in the hope that we will be somehow magically be whisked off this planet as millions of evangelicals believe will happen during the Rapture!
