I do not think this is a Calangute panchayat problem. Rather it is a government of Goa problem. I think a concentrated and coordinated effort must be made by the members of the Goa government to provide logistics for garbage disposal to the state in such away that garbage is disposed of in a scientific way instead of the dump as you go policy being implemented by the Calangute Panchayat. Ultimately the water table is the same and eventually Calangute as well as others villages in the area like Saligao, Pilerne, Candolim etc. are going to be affected by this. Not only Saligao. Do not congratulate idiots like the Calangute sarpanch for a job well done. The job is not done at all. The only thing he can be congratulated for is for passing the buck of pollution to other villages. Thinking that one person is going to solve this issue is in itself abject stupidity. I think all the citizens of Goa should confront and force the government to provide garbage disposal that will be environmentally safe.
