Hi Ashley,

Keeping my word about sending you my input before this day, Sunday 8th March
2009 is over.

My thoughts, for what they are worth, are as follows:

> 1) How would u want saligao village to be recognised?
>
> A - whats urs? initial inputs suggest that ALL wnat saligao to be
> recognised as "a heritage village" do u agree? disagree? why? pls reply
> to list with comments

Dont want to go into the widening of roads para & future traffic flow as Kevin
put it. Not sure of my ground there. But I am in agreement with Merwyn, & to
a certain extent, Kevin's mail. What more recognition does Saligao need, it
has been recognised by all from before our time, & in the 1970's it was one of
the most "forward" & "recognised" villages in Bardez alongwith Aldona. But
the mess started thereafter...I was still around in the early 1980's ..so know
that for sure.

As for calling Saligao or making it a "heritage village" I am NOT for it at
all. Each is entitled to his/her opinion I guess. Have answered this in my
previous mail today, just repeating here:

What heritage? Saligao already has its own heritage...we just got to recognise
the same & I did that long ago. Once something is named "heritage" or logged
as that, then we wont have a say in anything, (part of Kevin's statement "major
restrictions on development") we will have to get permission of some "Body" or
the other (Government) & one knows exactly how that will work!..... One gets
"permission" easily through certain channels for illegal construction etc.
(most often than not construction goes on without permission) but when it comes
to the crunch & for the good of Saligao, rest assured your "permission" files
will be sat upon for quite a while, if not for years or until doomsday! & I am
not being a pessimist here. Our complaint on stolen item with the police
station must be still pending 40 years since (it is probably a dead file or
perhaps joined the Fire Heap alongwith all other complaints) & the stolen item
was not obtained as we were asked to get the culprit to the police station -
huh! Short of catching him by the scruff of his neck or by the lobe of his ear
& walking to the Station, (we didnt have a car), dad didnt see any reason for
following up on the complaint.

So Ashley, choose which words or sentence you would like to include in your
file of "input" & add to the short list. If you summarise the input given by
Merwyn, Kevin & myself, you have the same thoughts. It is either a case of
great minds think alike, or fools seldom differ (sorry guys, sometimes one has
to admit one's foolishness - let's see how we stand after the 300+ on
SaligaoNet give their input) v/s. the rest of the Saliganvkars. Cant recall if
Dilip answered this first question but I recall his answer to the second
question. So dont know if I should include him too as we (yeh I have joined my
lot with yours - ha ha!) seem to have the same thoughts on the second question
too.

I agree with Dilip & Kevin. Have always preferred our villa type houses
(ground floor only) but the roofs are so high that one could easily fit in one
floor in between. Anything built hereafter should be in line with the
surrounding villas or buildings (definitely not ground floor plus 2 floors) -
ground floor plus first floor which fits in & differentiates Saligao as a
village from any other city with the high rise buildings. Who needs people
peeking into my bedroom from the height of their second floor bedroom? & I
doubt the present neighbours would welcome such "high rise" neighbours...huh!

I have always disliked being looked down upon, whether they are people or these
tall buildings. >

Cheaper? Huh! probably the contractors & others involved trying to get their
bucks in one go & currying favours or being curried favours accordingly! Hope
we can stick to the ground floor plus one floor above & I hope others will see
the light sooner rather than later. Oh yeh! these 2-3 storey buildings do
block out our natural light dont they?

Take care of yourselves, SaligaoNetters.

Do help Ashley get the input/inputs - it/they will benefit our village in the
final instance. By the way, where is the famous M&M - tut, tut! you are lagging
behind?

Your weekend is almost at an end. My new weekend will start in one hour's time
- we have a holiday tomorrow - great! So I worked one day - Ashley, Rico - you
both must admit I really worked today - check the number of postings I made on
SaligaoNet on 8th March 2009!

Regards

Bye Ashley - No hard feelings, no chords touched, no frustrations, no
irritation, & no personal accusations....& if there were, all accepted with a
pinch of salt....or touch of Salmona Spring water.

Ciao

Annette

PS: Heard something about Bionic Eye - Is it a Saliganvkar in the news? -
some relative of Lorna or Dilip? Englighten us ok?
