DEar Ashley, Hey, I thought you were aware of the Vangodd and what they stand for...?!. Any it is a group of people who originally clubbed together when the original settlers decended on Saligao, and developed it. The first vangodd belongs to the d'cruz and figueredo's, and I am not sure but there may be afew Saldana's also in it. They took the best spot in the village at that time near the drinking water spring at Salmona. The second vangodd consist of da gama's. de souzas etc. and so it goes on till the 10th Vangodd. We also have a few "Paustes" (adopted/brought to work people) and they are supposed to get less 'zon' than the gauncars..! Practically all were farmers originally and worked hard for their share of land which were distributed to them... I could go on and on but its a never ending record and I am not exactly sure when the 'aframents' (properties clearly demarcated, which were in excess) of their requirement got auctioned. They were clearly demarcated and kept both on records as well as on locateion
