Dear Saligao-Netters:

Just thought of keeping you informed about the goings-on in your
neighbourhood. Quoted from Moira-Net:

slope going down towards Dr victor's house

Some background information:

This meeting is being held to coincide with the visit of two overseas
members of this network, Sr. Margaret, a nun working in remote areas of
Africa (in Bamako, Mali), and Lisbon-based Dr Teotonio R de Souza, prominent
historian, who release a new edition of his 'Medieval Goa' on coming Friday
evening at Panjim.

Moira-Net is open to all linked with the village of Moira, and currently has
97 members. Membership is free, and it is online at
http://groups.google.com/group/moira-net

Since being formed in August 2007, it has seen some 1500 mostly
village-related posts being posted through this network, and it has played a
role in linking local concerns with villagers spread out in different areas,
including in the diaspora.

Like other mailing-lists (or the other village-nets), Moira-Net too has its
periods of relative inactivity, and flame-fests. But despite the strong
differences in opinion that surface, it has been an interesting initiative
(some might not agree!) and hope it can get better with time, like good
wine!

PS: Please see a new set of rules on the Moira-Net homepage, which are being
finalised, so as to balance free speech with a responsible attitude and the
crying need to build social capital in our village areas of Goa.
