What a phenomenal voice!!! Thanks to my sister Jenny's persistence I now know exactly who Joanne is! I, too, remember Jean and Pamela with their beautiful voices at LCHS - nice girls, too. Congratulations to the proud parents, (and aunt) of this very talented singer. As Annette and Max (BTW Hi Max - good to see your name on the Net, and to you, too, Dilip...sorry to insert this little greeting in here, but if I leave it till later it may never get done!!) have rightly said...Time has gone by really quickly, and the "little ones" that we knew are no longer little, and have grown into amazing young men and women.
Although I'm sort of reluctant to, I guess I have to echo Annette's sentiments about age when I think of my niece (and flower girl at our wedding) getting married this December, and many of my students in Goa already married with families of their own!!! Anyway, I guess growing old(er) is something none of us can avoid. All we can try to do is get there gracefully! Right after I sent out my query I scrolled down and read another message stating that Joann was from Sangolda; I felt rather foolish for my suggestion and was looking for my email to correct myself. For some reason it took a while to show up and I did not log on again till today. I'm glad that happened because now I know exactly who Joann is... Many thanks to all of you who enlightened me! I had no idea that Jean was D'mello and still living in Sangolda, or I might have connected the dots - because I can see where Joann gets her golden vocals from. I remember Jean for having the most beautiful, silky singing voice and Pamela's was not any less. I can hear Jean singing 'Santa Leah' in school like it were yesterday - sure takes me back many, many years!! All power to the extended 'von Trapp' family!!! :) Jenny (Saldanha) Fernandes -----Original Message----- From: Gerard de Souza <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Sat, Aug 15, 2009 10:43 pm Subject: [SALIGAONET] Re: VIDEO: Joanne D'Mello + GSSO performance in Saligao, July 30 2009 Frederick, Joanne is not the niece, but the daughter of Jean (Maiden surname, Mendonca)and Joe D'Mello from Sangolda.
