it is a good idea to falicitate these two youngstars, so that other youngsters can emulate them.

She deserves all the praise showered on her on this net group. I have closely known Joanne from the time she was a toddler and followed her success in music (Western Classical) at every stage. Several years ago (precisely December 2001) I had seen her give a vocal recital at the 'Swarangan' at the Kala Academy Black Box for a select audience. My little music sense told me Joanne had 'it' in her to make it big someday in the world of Western classical music. Thereafter, writing about Joanne in the TOI (Goa Plus) edition I had summed up my article with : Quote < 'For Joanne this is only the begining. The best is yet to come. This is one lass destined to go places in the near future if she lets endeavour take her through and makes the big wide world her stage'> Unquote I am glad Joanne has done just that and she has cornered glory and admiration not only in Goa and India, but at some of the best Music venues in Europe....and her success story continues. The below post brings to light yet another young and promising talent Genevieve D'Costa from the village. No doubt many more congratulatory messages addressed to her will flood the net very soon. I would however make a humble suggestion that their efforts should not go in vain. Any Saligao based Club/Institution/Parish Youth Association or any organisation should come forward and felicitate these two youngsters for the glory they have brought/bringing to their village and State as a whole. No doubt Joanne may not be originally hailing from Saligao, but she certainly has close links to the village for having studied in LCHS and also for her maternal and paternal aunts both married in Saligao. Children's Day (14th November) is not far off...perhaps this could be an appropriate day to recognise their contribution to society in two different fields of human endeavour. If not 14th Nov, then 26th Nov could also be appropriate day being our feast day. Recognition and appreciation could go a long way in encouraging these youngsters rather than merely paying tributes in cyberspace. Is someone listening out there? Viva Saligao!! Daniel F. Music poorly recorded is like exhibitiFng a painting in flickering light. A degree of planning was required and possibly a couple ofindependently placed microphones going through a 'mixer' (monitored for balance and tone), rather than through the church system. > >But all that aside for now!A great performance, and we shall hear Joanne once >again one proud day. > >Now Isee where you got your voice and love-of-music from Max! > >What a village! > >[email protected] > > > > > > > >From: [email protected] >To: [email protected] >Subject: [SALIGAONET] Joanne D'Mello >Date: Tue, 18 Aug 2009 09:50:08 +0400 > > > > NO harm I suppose, in claiming to be a cousin of a young and emerging-ly famous Artist Joanne D'Mello, is it ? Feels good really. Dilip,my friend, are you listening in ? we both first saw the clip together and did not know who she was ;) Being an excellent musician himself his first comment was... 'Santa Maria !! What a beautiful voice.....and .What a Horrible Sound System we have in our World famous Church. and surely the sound in the video clipping wasnt lying. Perhaps someone should start rallying around to collect funds for a great real good Sound System. or maybe its not bad after all for all the regular proceedings?. In The Video Clip at first sight Joanne certainly seems like a kin of Sabrina D''Mello or the grande Bobo famille. Joe D'Mello and self are paternal second Cousins. His Sisters are Eliza and Lucy, both ex LCHS pupils. Eliza is married to Carlos my neighbour in Muddavadi. Boy! much time has flown by and so fast. Small babies have grown into great adults already during our absence from our homeland.. Joe andJeanne live in their own new one storey Bungalow bang opposite their Parents house, situated on the Sangolda CHOG-M highway, on the same side but a little ahead of Barbara Pereira's House(the Late Ex Sapranch of Sangolda). Attagirl Joanne ! keep it up !! Thanks to Saligaonet too You will continue to make a lot of people proud of you.
