Thanks so much for your words of comfort and encouragement Maxwell. Yes, this
has come as a shock to us. Mum was failing in her memory a bit but was very
well physically. She had a stroke on the 25th which caused immobility to her
right arm and leg and affected her speech. She went through spurts of being
alert and then not so. On the 29th afternoon for whatever reason she became
alert when she saw Maura and Chiquit who had just arrived, spent the evening
though could not talk, participated in Mass said at Merlyn's home by Fr
Desmond, attempted to sing songs with Merlyn and Maura though the words were
not inaudible and they put her to bed around 10:30. Next morning when they went
to wake her up at 9:30 they realized her heartbeat and pulse were faint. She
passed away at 9:50 am. Mavis, Milena and myself are all scheduled to leave on
thursday as we were to celebrate her 80th birthday with a big celebration on
Easter Sunday. Unfortunately, it was God's will that it was not to be. The good
news is she died with very little suffering and certainly gone to a place where
there is no suffering or pain and gets to be with Vina. It is excruciating for
us but Heaven has won another one. I am sure your mum will be in touch with
