Hey Joe, You are absolutely right. Any child support structure should be
independent of any other organized entity that may be preying on them.
Say it like it is! Regards

Would I be seen as being patronising if I reiterated that this is about the
children? It is not about the church, not about me or my pleasure, not about
us, and not about our faith or our feelings.

It is absolutely ludicrous for a childline and child support structures to have
an affiliation with the church in view of all that has happened. Period. Surely
everyone agrees with that?

I would love to comment on all the other stuff - and I have loads to say - but
to do so would be to remove the focus from the children, so I wont.

I guess we all know about anger, disappointment, and so on......as we must all
have our own experiences of the same. Right now, those are precisely the
emotions that are uppermost, as people try to deal with the pretense and
secrecy that helped this "dark secret" to grow to such proportions.
Incidentally, getting the anger out is also a vital part of any genuine healing
process. No matter how people try to justify the behaviour of the
perpetrators, the fact remains that they were being protected, when the victims
who were actually the ones who required the protection received none. I guess
the church cannot undo the wrongs it has done. It can only try to heal, as
much as it can, the enormous amount of hurt and damage that has been inflicted
so far.

There are a lot of us who take great pleasure in this unpleasant situation,
unfortunately that's human nature, one only has to see what news gets the
highest rating.

Truth will prevail. What we feel is true today may not be tomorrow. What is
dark ? What is light?
An owl and I view it differently. Again if I believe in something I will find
all the reasons, if not, I have all the excuses.

The sore needs to be dealt with, but there is a whole intricate body full of
blood vessels and nerves out there which should not be taken for granted or
ignored. Then there are those that are knowledgeable or righteous that take
care of it expeditiously, on the other hand the unscrupulous for their own
personal gain fester it for as long as it can be milked or out of ignorance.

Criticism can be constructive/healing or destructive/vindictive.

As Dilip correctly says.....it gives us all absolutely no pleasure whether we
are reading this news or forwarding it to others. But, sooner or later, the
truth in any sordid situation does come to light - and, unfortunately, with a
ferocity that matches the length of time it has been hidden. In my opinion,
keeping a festering sore tightly bandaged up and concealed will in no way help
it to heal; and unfortunately this is what has been happening for too long with
the Paedo-priest infection in our church, so now that it's out in the open, the
spewing of all that has been pent up for so long is unstoppable.
