Dear Lizzie
Belated Happy Easter to you and all other Saligaonetters.
I thought you should know something about what has been kept hidden from you pertaining to what you have written.

1) did you stop to question who else is behind this "community" agitation? if someone is really interested about radiation harming, */why do they have towers on their own properties some of which are NOT in saligao?/ Why do they carry mobile phones? why do they not look at the blatent illegalities at the side of their own house?* 2) Did you stop to think why one of the protesters showed his own property as an alternate tower site *equidistant from his house*? 3) did you stop to think *Why are they attacking the Delaney Family* when we have made it clear that we have leased out our land and we are in no way held responsible by the actions of DTPL represented by Cyril on this land? We were only defending our principles on all the mails. 4) did you stop to think why was a candlelight rally taken out in spite of the matter being in court? *Did they have no faith in our justice system?* 5) did you stop to think why people from the saligao grande-morod border end were called to agitate when *they have a tower just across the border in nagoa even closer than this tower will be?*

There's more to this fraud of an agitation that meets the eye. the *offer to move was made* at several points of time, but was NOT accepted..*why was it not accepted?**what are they not telling you????*

Cyril informed us that when he questioned them as to why they were telling everyone that they wanted him to relocate when their intentions were contrary, they told him that it was a strategy /suggested by their lawyer to buy time so that they could go to court and stall cyril/. All this was told to Cyril *after* Cyril and his company even took the initiative to go around with representatives Diago and Patrick to look at other site options initially. YET/Cyril was told 1 week later that the deal is off since they managed to get their appeal into court to stall him../ When He questioned Diago as to why the U Turn suddenly after showing him all these sites, * he told him that, with panchayat elections round the corner and that their citizens forum was fielding its Panel, it would *dent their election momentum* if a solution was reached at this point since the Tower agitation was their Poll Strategy.!*

After hearing what Cyril had been told, if you don't want to call it NIMBY?, you can call it hypocritical!

These same people told him that they are not going to allow him to install the Tower anywhere else in Saligao 500mtr or 2 Km as they wanted to teach us a lesson.

The black side of this agitation will slowly rear its ugly head.

The Delaney family seems hell-bent on OIMBY (only in my back yard). I wonder why they won't heed to the community request to shift the tower to other sites, as proposed in earlier emails. No doubt they and Cyril have invested a lot in work already done -- but then they continued to do the work even when they were requested not to do so and to engage in a dialogue. Even so, considering their financial loss if they agree to shift the tower elsewhere, could they perhaps utilize the built-up area for something more eco and community friendly?

I will stand shoulder to shoulder to stop the tower if each of
those opposed will give up their cell phones. I believe there is
no place in Goa where you can put a tower with no residences
within 500 mts radius. This means what the abreu vaddo group is
asking for if they do not give up their phones is NIMBY.
I hope you see the point.

Nice argument!

It's like saying: I too will oppose murder, provided all those against it first surrender their kitchen-knives.

As for NIMBY, it can be used to justify just about anything controversial and disliked by a community. Check out its roots and where it comes from:

An airport <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airport> is a typical example of a development that can cause a NIMBY reaction: developers may claim economic benefits for the city, while locals may benefit from improved transport links and new jobs---but they may oppose it with objections to the noise, pollution and traffic it will generate.

*NIMBY* or *Nimby* is an acronym <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Acronym> for the phrase "*not in my back yard*". The term (or the derivative*Nimbyism*) is used pejoratively <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pejorative> to describe opposition by residents to a proposal for a new development close to them. Opposing residents themselves are sometimes called *Nimbies*. The term was coined in 1980 by Emilie Travel Livezey, and was popularized by British politician Nicholas Ridley <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nicholas_Ridley,_Baron_Ridley_of_Liddesdale>, who was Conservative <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Conservative_Party_%28UK%29> Secretary of State for the Environment <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Secretary_of_State_for_the_Environment>.^[/citation needed <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Citation_needed>/]

Projects likely to be opposed include but are not limited to tall buildings, chemical plants <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chemical_plant>, industrial parks <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Industrial_park>, military bases <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Military_base>, wind turbines <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_turbine>, desalination plants <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desalination_plant>, landfills <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landfill>, incinerators <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Incinerator>, power plants <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_plant>, prisons <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prison>,^[1] <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NIMBY#cite_note-mw-0> mobile telephone <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mobile_telephone> network masts, schools <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/School>, nuclear waste dumps <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nuclear_waste_dump>, landfill <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Landfill> dump sites, youth hostels <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Youth_hostel>, wind farms <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wind_farm>, golf courses <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Golf_course>, housing developments <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Housing_development> and especially transportation <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Transport> improvement schemes (e.g. new roads <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Road>, passenger and freight railways <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Railway>, highways <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Highway>,airports <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Airport>, seaports <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seaport>).

NIMBY is also used more generally to describe people who advocate some proposal (for example, austerity <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Austerity> measures including budget cuts, tax increases, downsizing <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Downsizing>), but oppose implementing it in a way that would require sacrifice on their part.
