Dear Belinda, I was glad to get a clarification regarding L.C. D' Mello. that is Luis Casmiro then what" de Melo or de Mello or D'Mello or de Mellow. Now plese get me de names and surnames correctly for my own study. In the baptism certificate what is it written Luis Casmiro ( or Casimiro) de Melo. Find out the original surname. The names and surnames in the Baptism Certificate is very essential. Now I hear that Angelica is also known in Canada as Angie. But whenever Angelica sends me the E-mail she writes Angelica Almeida ( she was de Melo or D'Mello before). Her name is written as Angelica. However Angelica is a Portuguese name and the e in her name should havwe had an accent on " e"" Is it Luis Casmiro ( or Casimiro). I have here a letter fro Fr. Casimiro who writes his name as Casimiro and not Casmiro. The letter is here before my eyes. Then comes Joao Fausto Casmiro. Joao on a should have a til being a portuguese name. Then come Cristomo Casimiro.( Is it Crisologo or Crisostomo with portuguese accent) . Ida is fine. Now comes Father Casimiro D'Mello. He in his letter to me a few days back wrote Casimiro though I saw that others write his name as Casmiro and finally comes your surname as de Mellow. Is it de Mello or de Mellow. Is the surname anglicized ? There are others who write as they here like Faust, Crizol. Ida's name is also written as Aida. It is the responsibility of each family to write the names and surnames of their siblings correctly. Now if you go to the Communidade records there are Melo in the 2nd vangor, Melo in 4th vangor, Mello in 5th vangor, Melo in 6th vangor, De Melo in 11th vangor( I also belong to the same vangor) and they are quite different families and no relationship with Melo from other vangors( vangod). In that case if you could let me know to which Vangor of the Comunidade de Saligao Fr. Casimiro and his brothers Luis, Fausto and Crisologo belong to, then we can decide the exact surname. as also through baptism surname in the original certificate. There had been a tendency to change the surname as people want. But this should be done officially and not by families as the want. Then there arise the big confusion. However I was glad that I at least came to know the persons of fr. Casimiro family. It will be interesting to know what is the name and surname of the father of Luis, Fausto, Crisologo, and Casimiroi in his original baptism certificate. This is easy as the baptism record in saligao Church are still existing. It is a question of asking the original copy of the baptism. I feel Fr. Casimiro can help you. and me too .Each surname in the Communidade records is unique and though they have identical surname are not of the same family. Therefore I asked you to identify your Melo family how their surname is wtitten in original Baptism certificate or in the Comunidade record vangor( clan, famil)-wise God bless you .
