My very sincere condolences to the Lobo family, too. Although I very definitely knew all three siblings - Gil and Lia (a few years senior to me) and Hugo (a few years junior), I probably came to know Gil best during the 2 years we taught together in Muscat, Oman. I also know his wife, Judith (a teacher at LCHS) and his sister-in-law, Gabriella, also a teacher if I remember correctly. As observed, Gil was indeed a man of few words. I also discovered that he had a nice, quiet sense of humour; and was definitely a 'gentle gentleman' as Annette so nicely put it! He was great company during those 2 years in Muscat, and I kind of looked up to him as a big brother - being out there in the big, wide world for the first time on my own. Was really dismayed when I heard of Gil's sudden passing on. Just confirmed the unpredictability and uncertainty of life, and how stealthily death can snatch away a loved one with little or no warning. Rest assured that my thoughts and prayers go out to all the grieving family, and that Gil will always be remembered for the kind person he was, besides touching the lives of many, as an educationist. Our condolences to the rest of the family. I hope & pray that the Good Lord gives the family the strength & courage to bear their loss. Gil's mum must be very distraught as she lost her husband, then her son-inlaw & now her son. How come Allwyn didnt register the usual info on SaligaoNet? Got used to hearing from him though we did hear from Allwyn personally since we know the Lobo family. I have been in touch since Friday 20th July (when Gil breathed his last early morning) with Gil's wife Judith, his sister Lia (who was my classmate in Lourdes Convent for 3 years & comprised one of the "Sixers" & then in Xavier's College for two years). We have kept in touch on & off since then - Lia & her 4 sons & their respective families are based in Perth. Didnt get through to Gil's mother & brother, Hugo & his family who as most know stay in Cotula in their family home. Guess their peers would know them in school or in college & I am sure most people know Gil, or of him. Rico, yes you are right, nothing to correct & the "more" details are mentioned herein. Gil was a man of few words whether you knew him well or not (he used to visit my brotherinlaw sometimes so met him at home too) & I always thought of Gil as a gentle gentleman. I do recall he used to teach in Monte De Guirim so his students would know him better! Met Gil 18 months ago at their place as Lia was in Saligao then on a short visit with 2 of her sons. His funeral would have taken place by now & the family will be trying to cope with the void that Gils demise would have left. Once again Luwell, Ashley & I convey our sympathy to the bereaved families. Annette From: [email protected] Date: Sat, 21 Jul 2012 15:29:17 +0530 Subject: [SALIGAONET] DEATH: Gil Lobo To: [email protected] Sorry to send you some bad news from the village. Gil Lobo, one of our popular men around here, passed away here at the age of 62. On a visit to Lourdes Convent this morning, I learnt that he suffered a brain hemorrhage. Ever-smiling Gil (a man of few words to me, because I never got to know him personally, or wasn't taught by him) was a popular personality as the note below makes clear... He was a respected educationist, though I think he had moved out of teaching a few years back. Please could someone send in more details, or correct the above?
