Mr Gil lobo was a great man indeed - I was told that he refused to
accept payment for his services while teaching at the seminary ontop of
the hill and instead just signed on the registar and told the priests to
use the money for some other work.
a quiet warrior was what he was. saligao has lost a silent hero.

I am shocked and saddened by Gil's sudden demise. He was a man I
respected and the few words that he spoke always made alot of sense.My
daughters and I will always remember him with gratitude for tutoring
them in Mathematics when they were studying for the SSC exams without
accepting any fees. He has helped many other kids too.
Gil was an excellent Maths teacher besides being an able administrator
in the Diocesan Society of Education before he retired a few years ago
. He taught Mathematics to the students at Saligao Seminary after his
retirement.
His education too is interesting as it spanned across both Portuguese
times and the new era of liberated Goa. He did his primary education
in Escola Primaria de Saligao or Aula as it is commonly known , then
went on to study in Nacionale Alphonso de Alberquque Lyceum in Panjim
till Dec 1962 after which he joined St Anthony's School Monte Guirim
and passed Matriculation through Pune Board of Education. He continued
his studies in science at Dhempe College.
Just sharing something of Gil's life that he had told me about.
