Dear Members of saligao instituteWhat has happened to our beloved saligao institute ? Each time when I think of visiting the club it is locked. During my childhood days somewhere in 1968 1969 we had to literally fight to get a chance to play table tennis or carrom. The club used to be open by 4.30 pm. Members and their dependents visited the club everyday. Some came to play bridge some to play rummy, some to read newspapers, magazines, some to talk, and others to play carrom and table tennis. A badminton court was built as it was found to be necessary. Three days in a week was reserved for elders to play badminton while the otherdays was for the youngsters .. Albert souza cordeiro, Late camilo de mello, blanche saldanha, Tony de mello, and others used to play a professional game and while they played it was nice to watch them playing. What has happened to our club today ? the tables are rotting , the magazines are eaten by white ants etc etc. I doubt whther they have any programme on sundays. We used to have snow ball on sundays. Month of october meant work for all ladies to show their talents . They used to organise ladies week. Competitions after competitions . Gents took parts in cookingcompetitions. What superb food cooked by men. there is plenty more to write. please wake up saligaonkars young and old. Revive all activities in the club. have ladies week. why are the ladies sleeping ? Where are the youngsters playing games on computers ? You will become a joystick . albert de souza
