Following the recent death of Mrs Ruzarin Cordeiro (our condolences from Saligao-Net), Ashley asked about whether a pharmacy existed in Saligao earlier. Fr Nascimento phoned me this information which I'm sharing on his behalf:
Mrs Cordeiro was the chief pharmacist of the Farmacia Bambolcar, run by Ganpat Bambolcar in the 1950s and for some time thereafter. The pharmacy was located near the old Bank of India, somewhere near what used to be Bobo's Inn, in the heart of the Cotula market. As per the rules in force in those times (the Portuguese days), every pharmacy needed a qualified pharmacist to oversee its operations.
