Salves of Mae de deus was held in the evenings after 6 pm. Each vaddo or group of vaddos took upon them to do their best. More of competition between Cotulakars, which had big populations as their vaddo was made of cotula, pequen morod and goletem. This was followed by Muddavaddi and tabravaddo and lastly Nigvaddo on the last day. After salve one had just to come out of the church to find that you are in a wonderland. The church would be lit with lanterns of various colours from the cross till down . Bundings flew from the church cross till the end of the wall and that too had lanterns. Earlier there was no band stand and so they had to make band stand with a cardboard showing the vaddo . band used to be either Johnson or Merry makers. Each piece of music was followed by fog from sakaram and company. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz @@@@@@@@ combo combi sotri etc etc. People met one another specially the bombaikars . This meeting was followed by eating of hot hot bajajs and drinking of home made soft drink. Nice to hear xiiiiiiiiiiiiiiik noise of the local soda. The bigger noise the best is the soda. Cold drink had also different colours. Red, orange or green with bits of ice . At 9 pm every one went home happy. The church had no electricity. Petromax were used .Nice to see the person owning the petromax pumping during the session of the church. There were petromaxes outside the church. Those were the days.
