We would cycle to Monte de guirim and back. Johnny de saligao was a natural comedian. those days Johny de Saligao was king.. born with loads of sense of humour ...knowing Johny was big asset.. he was trouble shooter in all areas. There was a small library too.. I was frequent visitor to the library.... there was jovial guy called Surendra as talathi from Nagoa ever ready to help. Primary health center was happening place.. there were two lovely ladies called Neeta & Merta ever ready to help with smile and affection...even male nurse called Borkar was attached to primary center..in seventies Borkar & Jocky a quite man staying behind " Sainath Shake" would go on their cycles to give injections prescribed by Avelin doctor. Now Saligao panchayat has moved in own space.. also the primary health center But whenever I pass from Avito' s house.. looking at that old Panchayat house..the old memories come rushing.....those were beautyful days . * * * Ramesh Ghadi 9:39am Jun 2 Khotla: Many trees we saw in every compound just disappeared in history book. Today I saw this " adanv" tree and was happy like seeing my old friend after years. Trees like jogma,Rosa aavaye, kormola. .hantera, are rarely seen around. Request for Saligaolars.. try to save these species for further generations..it takes few minutes to destroy the trees but years to grow them. Congratulations to this house owner behind DPees refrigerator workshop at khotla for saving this beautiful Adanv tree..few of them are serviving in Saligao * * * Ramesh Ghadi 8:14am May 5 Bhovadem Saligao: Dina Bordo had good crop of chillies,onions & sweet potatoes this season. But he is not the type of farmer who will relax for long..he is busy again for another quick crash crop of "tambdi bhaji" & "norkol" * * * VADDEACHI BAIM (community well):In month of May life was so different ...specially in seventies...before the tap water came to Saligao. As kid of 12-13 I had this crazy idea...I thought if you have your own well you are rich..and we were from aam aadmi group crowded at our vaddeachim baim. About 10-12 families would gather on the well.It was a gossiping place...one would drag water..another would carry warer..some others would wash their clothes on the high elivated stone..which was smooth and polished. In the month May our vaddeachim baim was only well which would never dry up. We would get far away visitors.All were greeted with smile. I and my brother would love to have bath on the well..I would drag water for him while he has bath..then when it was his turn to dra water while I have bath..he would run away to dry himself.It was fun. The best part was end o f May when all the neighnours would together clean up the well.Draging full water and then cleaning up the bottom. Now our vaddeachim baim is in ruins..quite often I think get it cleaned up.keep it for emergency and also as witness of our past. The well survived for two centuries ...I think We shoul repair the well..and make it... Well and good again.. clean up the well.
