Two years' worth of annual Art & Culture awards to 23 awardees, Aug 4 31, Jul 2013
Every year the Directorate of Art and Culture, honours eminent personalities in the field of Art & Culture by conferring the Goa State Cultural Award for their contribution and achievement in the field of art forms such as music, drama, tiatr, bhajan, literature, visual art, etc. This year 23 personalities will be honoured in the field of art and culture from Goa for their contribution and achievements for the year 2010-11 and 2011-12. The Directorate also present the Best Cultural Institution Award every year to one cultural institution from Goa. The award presentation ceremony will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2013 at 4.30 p.m. at Institute Menezes Braganza Hall, Panaji. Noted film and drama actor, Anupam Kher will be the chief guest while the Minister for Art & Culture, Dayanand Mandrekar will preside over the function. The award recipients for the year 2010-11 are Ramdas Naik,(Music); Luis Saturnino Cota(Music); Leena Mashelkar, Theatre(Drama); Rev. Fr. Nascimento J. Mascarenhas, (Literature); Prof. S.S. Nadkarni, (Literature); Pradeep M. S. Talaulicar, Theatre(Drama); Digambar G. Singbal, (Theatre - Drama); Cyriaco Dias, (Theatre- Tiatr); Madhav Borcar, (Literature); Yolanda D’Souza, (Painting) and Anthony F. De Souza, Creative Photography. The award winner for the year 2011-12 are Raghunath Pednekar, -Bhajan/Kirtan; Mukund Madgaonkar -Bhajan/Kirtan; Agnelo Dias -Music; Braz Gonsalves - Music; Shridhar Kamat Bambolkar -Theatre (Drama); Dr. Ajay Vaidya - Theatre (Drama); Shri Premanand Sangodkar - Theatre (Tiatr); Luciano Dias - Theatre (Tiatr); Tanaji Halarnkar - Literature; Manohar Shetty –Literature and Nirupa Naik - Painting. The individual award comprises of a purse of Rs.50,000/- certificate, Shrifal, Nataraj Replica and Shawl. The cultural Institution honour will be given to Xavier Centre of Historical Research-Porvorim-Goa by conferring the State Culture Award for Best Cultural Institution for outstanding performances in the field of Art and Culture. The Award comprises of a memento, purse of Rs.1.00 Lakh and citation. This award is for the year 2011-12.
