Dear Saligaokaram, Here is our opportunity to send suggestions on the following, in Saligao:
1. the mess at the roundabout, at the main Saligao crossroads, near the Govt. Primary School. 2. the massacre of 80 year old, beautiful rain trees and the general ugliness of the beautification project, beginning at these crossroads and going towards Saligao market, St. Anne's Chapel, Arrarim and the Church. 3. kiosks at the corners of the main crossroads 4. the prison like, boundary walls that are being senselessly erected on both sides of the road from Saligao to Parra! Close your eyes to imagine driving, riding and walking down such walled-in, claustrophobic insanity... 5. in the fields, the retaining walls of the road extensions have blocked the drainage near the crematorium and cemetery. 6. from the small, Voltar crossroads in Arrarim to Lourdes Convent, there is traffic chaos, just before and after school hours. 7. this same junction will become a death trap for 1600 school children, when the 100 odd garbage trucks begin to use this route to the govt's mindless, treatment plant on our hill. Pleas to have a dedicated road to an alternate site, only 700 mts. away, have fallen on deaf ears. This is in spite of physically taking the concerned authorities to the alternate site! 8. speeding of reckless tourists, high either on alcoholic or narcotic substances, continues unabated, as do the accidents it causes on the main road. 9. as planned in the RP21, we urgently need a dedicated road to the Pilerne Industrial Estate, that bypasses Saligao. The size of vehicles and amount of traffic through the densely populated, narrow roads of the village, gets more dangerous by the day. 10. the potholes on the road coming down from the seminary, created by the Reliance telecommunication cabling have caused accidents in the village. 11. garbage by the side of this same road and on other roadsides in Saligao,will become a new traffic hazard. Cattle, dogs and goats will soon come to dine at these open-air veterinary eateries that provide the choicest of kitchen and restaurant, non-veg wastes.
