Thanks for the reminder!
It is good to read and know that Saligao is into all this which will make for a cleaner & hygienic village. Having said that, I dont think the idea has been caught by many people in Saligao. Garbage is still being dumped in various places & especially in the gully, nullah or "vovs" as we call them.....like the one near Diego's house or near my back compound in Donvaddo...to give an example. When it rains, (it has been raining cats & dogs apparently), the gully overflows on to the footpath on either side - which means the rubbish, garbage thrown in the gully throughout the year, flows alongwith the water right from the hills & some of it dumps itself through our backyard gate in our compound as we are "right there" so to say. We have not had this problem before but I guess the "ban on burning" garbage has led lazy folks to chuck out "everything" into the gully which "everything" is now flowing, bobbing & rolling, willy nilly with the water!....unfortunately into our backyard......though the gate! Seeing that our Tourism Minister is based in Donvaddo, perhaps he can be prevailed upon to make a tour & walk down the lane (close by to his villa) to the "vov" in question and check on the same. The Sarpanch could accompany him & as a joint effort, perhaps educate some of those (whom they know) to "collect" or "bag" the same (garbage) & keep it for "Garbage Collection" Day! We are tired of working our tongues & mouths, repeatedly telling people "dont throw the garbage in the vov". Guess Aparna has the same problem of repeating herself with regard to the pet/dog/leash/dogbite subject. Otherwise, all things considered, Eknath & his team & most Saliganvkars are doing well by their village..... On a happier note, Wishes for a Happy Ganesh Festival!... and to those who celebrate Onam next Sunday - Happy Onam! This is being done without fail for the last sereval months by our Village Panchayat with personal interest shown by our Sarpanch Eknath Toraskar . Kindly ensure all plastic and nonbiodegradable waste is securely tied neatly in garbage bags and kept at the respective roadside pickup points and dont forget the van starts pickuping very early in the morning . Please inform all your neighbours too Thankyou and God Bless you Jessel MESSAGE stop burning of plastic in Goa, toxic gas emissions are poisoning land, water, people and all living organisms at breakneck speed. Even little birds have been found dead high up in their nests closeby to where plastic waste has been burnt due to poisonous emissions !! This is a great environmental man-made disaster that is totally out of control and is affecting thousands of peoplein Goa ! DIOXIN GAS is being emitted from this slow burning plastic fire that smolders and burns sometimes for days on end. This poison - gas is slowly released into the air, and dioxins also leach into the ground and water. People are already falling ill, plastic burning at low temperature emits Dioxin; the 2nd most deadly poison after nuclear waste. It effects all living organisms and the surrounding environment.. it causes cancer, heart attacks, infertility, asthma, migraines and other neurological problems etc.. -- -- Saligao-Net is at http://groups.google.com/group/saligao-net To post to this group, send email to [email protected] To unsubscribe email [email protected] --- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "Saligao-Net" group.
