As I type, I hear the village bells toll for Uncle Luis LC D'Mello (b. 1921). It is the passing of a generation. One of the veterans at the Saligao Institute, who enjoyed his game of Bridge (or was it Rummy?) when we were noisy schoolboys barely tolerated in what was a very lively institution then.
I also remember the picnics that U. Luis, A Mary and the family would attend. Some of these organised by my dad to places like Aguada (before the Taj came up there in the early 1970s). May the happy memories remain!
