Sorry to hear about your mum having to move, Dr Dilip. (Responding late as I missed it earlier and ran into it while trawling for something else in the archives.) I'm a fan of hoping that villagers can stay on, and add value, to their respective villages. But we all need to do a lot more before this turns actually sustainable. The Saligao Medical Centre (despite its teething problems) is one such initiative. But we need to get a lot more happening -- to keep senior citizens busy, to build community spaces, to build scope for interactive links between villages (and not just at election time or when we need them).
Everyone's ideas and suggestions are welcome. (As you would have noted, LCHS is doing a good job with sports, including for the boys.)
