The Annual General Body Meeting of the Institute of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus & Mary ( Home for Aged – Asilo Aldona was held on 24.05.2015 at the Home premises. The current Committee under the leadership of Mr Avinash Misquita has done a wonderful job and continued the good work under the previous Committee lead by Cyrus Sanchez. The meeting was held in a cordial and positive atmosphere and all the past issues have been satisfactorily resolved and the Home is back to its position as the best Home in Goa run by villagers. The achievement of the current Committee include : - A substantial increase of Rs 14 lacs in the reserves of the Home to bring them up to 83 lacs. - The facility of a full time nurse for the vigilant care and health of all the residents with the co-operation of CARITAS - A tie with COOJ lead by fellow Aldocar Dr Peter Castellino for Elder Care Programme and Physiotherapy for the inmates . The EC expressed its sincere gratitude and appreciation to Dr Peter Castellino & his team of Aarti Sinha & physiotherapist Freeda Fernandes - A covered corridor to enable the resident of the new Louis Santa Rita Rodrigues Ward to enable residents to access the Refractory comfortably. - Other accessories like Hot/cold/room temperature water dispensers, drinking water dispensers , induction heater for boiling water as well arranging for donation of wheel chairs, water mattresses, walkers and side supports for all the beds. - The Committee conducted various activities under the auspices of COOJ , pilgrimage to Old Goa for the Exposition, Christmas Party and Feasts. - The employees are now paid more than the minimum wage as per the law. The Annual Report and Financial Report were approved unanimously. The President expressed his sincere appreciation and gratitude to Inventory Team of Mr. Basil Phillip , Ms Concy and Mr Lenny for hard work for completing a systematic inventory of all the assets of the Home. The General Body expressed its sincere gratitude to 1. Rev Fr Amandio Valladares the Spiritual Director of the Home for his guidance and support. The President Avinash Misquita stated that Fr Amandio was totally impartial and fair and if the Managing Committee was in wrong didn’t hesitate to say so and this helped the Managing Committee in its work 2. The Sisters of the Handmaid of Christ for their selfless service , dedication and hard work. 3. The Managing Committee for their wonderful work and service to the Home for the Aged. The elections to a new Managing Committee were held and the General Body requested Mr Avinash Misquita to please lead the team for one more year to which he agreed despite his family & business commitments. The New Committee consists of President Mr Avinash Misquita Vice President Mr Nick Figueiredo Treasurer Mr Lenny Dias Secretary Savio Figueiredo Members Mr. Antonio Francisco Fernandes MsGail Misquita The President immediately co-opted Mr Thomas Tavares as Co-opted member and thanked him for his hard work and support . The General Body granted sanction for a new inverter and modification of the Sisters residence and look forward to Aldonkars to help to achieve these important requirements for the Home. The President brought to the notice of GB that some individuals were collecting donations on behalf of the Home without the sanction of the Home and the funds collected were not being handed over to the Home. It was decided to bring this to the notice of various organisations who have been helping the Home to warn their members about such individuals so that their donations are not misused.
