Dear Nettekara, Led by Arnold Sequeira from Sequeira Vaddo in Arrarim, Danushka D'Gama from Khotla, Diogo Fernandes from Don Vaddo & Dominic Savio from Nigvaddo, about 70 citizens from Parra, Guirim, Calangute & Saligao staged a noisy but peaceful protest, against the rising crime graph in Saligao & Goa.
Stung by the brutal gang rape of the 2 women in Anjuna, & crimes against women in general, the protesters shouted slogans & sang protest songs for 90 minutes, at the Govt. Primary School, on 5 June morning. They ended with a symbolic march around d new circle. The organisers were happy with the response, even though the action was planned @ very short notice. So unprepared were they, that protesters ended up being creative & resourceful enough to actually paint posters with their fingers at d venue! "Saligao is alert. Saligao will unitedly fight crimes against women & all crime!" is the message that was broadcast, loud & clear.
