Sorry to hear & read of the demise of Fr. Jimmy, we pray for the repose of his
soul. Our condolences to the family.
Who wouldnt remember Fr. Jimmy? I knew him well as soft spoken & always
smiling, ...can still picture him as we usually saw him or met him around the
area of Lourdes Convent & he always had something nice or funny to say & I will
always remember his smiling face - (kindness personified comes to mind) & of
course as most knew, he used to celebrate mass at Lourdes Convent when he was
in Saligao.
Good to know he had a good innings ..travelling till the end ...wow! all by the
Kindness & Grace of God - but then kindness begets kindness eh? ......& here I
am & though no spring chicken, (I am 30 years his junior)....have a problem
with travelling & everything else...Fr.Jimmy was truly blessed...may his soul
rest in peace....
And his family & all who came in contact with him(including people like me)
should consider themselves blessed too. I am sure he will be blessing us from
his place above & is probably tickled pink by all that is said & written about
him now. He had a quiet sense of humour.
Ta ra Father, pray over us & bless us as you always did!
Annette & family.
PS: Was on leave & didnt have access to the net, so missed out reading the sad
news & late in sending my condolences.

My condolences to A. Alba and the D’Souza family on the passing away of Fr.
Jimmy. Fr. Jimmy was a quiet person, soft-spoken and gracious. I remember him
telling
me ‘go for a higher form of prayer – Contemplation! Just be with the Lord.”
I remember Fr. Jimmy himself, after celebrating Mass at Lourdes Convent, would
‘sit with the Lord’.

It’s good to know he was active in the Parish till the end – a truly dedicated
Priest.

May his soul rest in peace.

Lizzie (D’Mello)

Fr. Jimmy was indeed a great man and priest, and a close family friend, too. I
will always remember his lovely, radiant smile, his kind words and a demeanour
all his own. He will, undoubtedly, be missed by all who knew and loved him.

May he rest in peace.

Thank you to all who have expressed their condolences and sentiments on the
death of my Uncle, Fr. Jimmy DeSouza.

He celebrated his 90th birthday last month and was still active in his Parish
till he was hospitalised early this month. He had the joy of celebrating 64
years as
a Priest in August last year.

His funeral will be held on Saturday, 30th January at 1100 hrs at St. Patrick's
Cathedral in Karachi.

Best Regards,

Henry D'Souza

Thank you for your inputs, and timely sharing of the news, John Gois. People
from Saligao are reading of it, and sharing these words of yours too with them.
Fr Jimmy was a good priest and a nice
man. Always smiling, always cheerful, doing his best for his adopted home
(Karachi) and keeping his ancestral home (Goa, specially Saligao) always in his
mind. We must celebrate the lives and contributions of these great souls, who
go about doing such a lot
of community work, without even expecting credit for it! I was amazed how hard
Fr Jimmy worked even at his age... he must have been happy to go with his boots
on, so to speak. Those who love their love and know the value of their
contribution don't even need
to think of retirement! Regards and good wishes, Frederick. (One lane away
from Fr Jimmy's home in Saligao.)

Yes, Fr Jimmy D’Souza is from Saligoa, Goa. He was my principal in St John
Vianney Primary School, Karachi Pakistan in the late 50’s and early 60’s.
Last year in December he had brought a group
to Goa from Karachi, Pakistan for St Francis Xavier’s Exposition in spite of
his old age. I missed him by a couple of days during my visit to Goa. They
were delayed in getting their Visa from Karachi.

He was a great generous priest with the poor. May His Soul Rest in Peace.

Is this Fr James/Jimmy from Saligao, who was earlier at St Patrick's Cathedral?
If so, he was my neighbour... a good man, and a good priest. FN
