When I returned to a stormy Saligao around 9.30pmish, the village was in the dark. It was an evening of lightning and thunder. What fun riding back from Margao on a two-wheeler :-) Lights didn't come back till 1 am. Once in a way, a power failure of this kind enables catching up on sleep. Sometime in the night, the power came back... I found it on by 5.30 am, but only two phases. Phones (landlines) have been out for much of the day. Since BNSL charges us at "urban" rates, you would expect urban services too. But no. The exchange is left unmanned, and lightning strikes are not unheard of. (As for myself, I disconnect all phones, computers and TVs once any lightning shows up.) Complain, otherwise nobody's gonna take any action! Share your experiences. Saligao has a years-old consumer forum, but the activists there feel few take an interest in what they're doing. Maybe they could share their updates via Saligaonet on Facebook and Googlegroups. FN
