Hi People,
I remember ourt seniors leading the way & we following
them. The Singing of San Juao, The breaking of
coconuts in marvod ground, the xacuti parti in Lorna's
house, and the finale in Budu gelie bain in
Mollembhat. Not forgetting the famous jumps like Suie,
Muddo and Shendri. Leading the way in Mollembhat &
tabra Vaddo were, Cassiano de lima, Tony & Romeo
Remedios, Lucas, Carlos, Manuel's, Carrie, Hector,
Juju, Walti & Johney Rego, Asmu Remedios, Uncle Benny,
Joaquim, My dad Santan and many more. There was also
Angelo body builder, and Maurice. They used to push
kids into wells to try and teach them to swim. We also
were given the opportunity to teach [ that we enjoyed
]
I also remembered the wells which were prohibited for
jumping [ and guys jumped anyway ]and the fennie
bottles we got from the new javui's [ son in laws ]
I used to wonder, why there were no women at the
xacuti parties. Not to forget the center of attraction
Mikku. He had his song called khodpar eik chedum
boslam and he would blush when we teased him with
Mary-an.
What about other vaddo's ? What did you guys do in the
past and What is the current generation doing or
planning to do this year ?
I believe traditions are dieing. We need to keep them
alive and still have healthy fun.
