KOINDDO BAL & TIKTTEM .

                                      .

“For this game, two or more players make a team. A small slit is made on the ground. On that the ‘ bal’ is kept. The player places the stick on to slit in the ground and asks' kollie?'( follie? )When the opponent replies” Kollie’( or “follie”), the ‘bal’ is shot out. If it is caught by the opponent the player is out, if not the player plays by striking the ‘bal’ with the ‘ koinddo’(stick). He has to play three times, and at least strike the ‘ bal’  once , if not he is out. Points are counted depending on how many times the ‘bal’ is hit with the ‘koinddo’

If the ‘bal’is hit once, one ‘koinddo’ makes one point, if twice one ‘bal’ and if thrice, than half ‘bal’. The counting of points start from the spot where the ‘bal’ is up to the slit. The player can also be out of the game while playing, if the ‘bal’ is caught in the air by the opponent. In this case he is given an option. He can come hopping with the ‘bal’ in his hand up to the slit. If he successfully reaches the slit he can continue playing. The winner is the one who gets the highest number of points. In some areas of Goa this game is known as “ GOINDO BAL”

“SONN’NAMNIM”  One fourth of coconut shell  is cut and the husk is removed to make a” sonn” and ‘koinddo’( one foot moderate bamboo or thick stick) is required. This is a game for girls and is a variant of ‘Koinddo Bal’. The procedure of the game is the same as in ‘ koinddo bal’.

                                TIKTTEM.

This is two player game. Each player has black and yellow pawns. Alternately shells and stones can also be used. A square is divided into two smaller squares. Each player alternately places the shell/stone on the line by placing his shell/stone in between. However, he also tries to make his own ‘tikttem’. The second player makes it difficult to complete the line by placing his shell/stone in between. However, he also tries to make his tikttem’. When a player completes a tikttem’ he can take the shell/ stone of the other player. The game is over when three ‘tikttins' are made.
