CHAPEL OF ST. ANNE---III.

BENEFECTORS:

Mr. Casmiro Xavier de Souza( Mudd’davaddi), Mr. Domingos Benedicto dos Remedios( Tabravaddo) and Mr. Marcelino Fernandes( Donvaddo) offered a beautiful and valuable crown to St. Anne; Mr. Lourenco Caetano Fernandes( Mudd’davaddi0 offered a delicately gold painted wooden oratory to keep the sacred relics of St. Sebastian and St. Agnes and Mr. Antonio Joao dos Remedios( Tabravaddo) donated a carpet for the steps of the altar(on 29th March, 1892). On 20th September 1884, the Bombayites offered a few mass objects, Missal by Mr. Francisco Xavier Cordeiro( Mollebhatt0, priests from wards including Padre-Mestre Lazaro Agostinho Dias offered vestments while tin plates were donated by Mr. Joaquim Fernandes( Xinvaddo); Fr. Joaquim Jose Cordeiro ( Mollebhatt) offered a " comoda"( cupboard) for the sacristy to preserve vestments and other Chapel objects; Mrs. Idalina P.Dias, wife of Mr.Pedro Joao dos Remedios( Tabravaddo) offered an image of the Dead Lord( Senhor Morto) for the ‘ passo’ in the chapel. It is kept in the middle altar and is venerated on 6th Sunday of Lent every year.

At the time of the extension of the chapel in 1909,Mr. Ismael Fernandes( Mudd’davaddi) and Mrs. Adelina, widow of Mr. Francisco da Cruz offered 500 and 100 tiles respectively to cover the roof of the sanctuary( altar-mor).

In 1910 when the renovated and extended chapel was blessed, Mr.Claudio Francisco Moniz and family, offered an artistically inscribed ciborium, Mr. Santana Fernandes—the carpenter—donated two confessional; Mr. Francisco Xavier dos Remedios( Tabravaddo) offered the pulpit seen in the nave; Mr.Rodolfo Napoleao Fernandes( Donvaddo) offered a relic of St. Teresa of Child Jesus with a glass container and another of the Sacred Wood (Santo Lenho).

Others who donated in the year 1910 were Mr. Jose Manuel Eleuterio Cordeiro( Mollebhatt) two suspension lamps; Mr. Manuel Arcanjo Moniz, two lamps for the "adro da capela"; Mr. Manuel Salvador Fernandes( Mudd’davaddi) four suspension lamps, Mr. Joaquim Constantino Remedios( Tabravaddo) offered six silver candlesticks for the main altar; Mr. Joao Caetano Albino dos Remedios three silver ‘sacras’; Mr.Antonio Joao dos Remedios four silver decorations( ramalhetes) for the main altar, Mr.Jose Xavier Coutinho( Mudd’davaddi) a silver ball for the Confraria Cross, Mr. Joao Francisco Marcelo Fernandes( Mudd’davaddi) a reliquary in the form of a cross containing 16 relics and the other objects of the altar. Mr. Pedro Xavier Fernandes 9 ‘khon’nes; Mr. Guilherme Salvador dos Remedios (Tabravaddo- Mollebhatt) a rich pluvial and a golden crown for Our Lady of Remedios; ( Mudd’davaddi); Mr. Vicente Bartolomeu Fernanandes, a silver incensor, Mr. Crispino Caetano Fernandes’ ( Mudd’davaddi) contribution for oil paintings of the wall.

The ‘joneiros’of Chorao, the Fernandes’ offered a rich gold braided( galao) vestment, for the use of various feasts, on 28th July, 1913….to be continued.
