Sub: Lack of switches hold Saligao consumers to ransom!
````````````````````````````````````````````````````````````
Dear Sir,
Every year the monsoons are a nightmare for us in Saligao and
Nagao villages.
Throughout the rainy season, coconut and other trees keep falling
on the High Tension lines mainly in Baga and Arpora.  This
causes the Baga and Arpora feeders to be shut down for repairs,
for several hours at a stretch and sometimes for a whole day.
The problem is that hundreds of consumers in Saligao and Nagoa on
those feeders are also deprived of electricity during that time.
Food goes bad, production stops and life generally comes to a
standstill in all the houses and establishments upline from the
substation in Saligao to the scene of the accident.
Dear Sir,
Every year the monsoons are a nightmare for us in Saligao and
Nagao villages.
Throughout the rainy season, coconut and other trees keep falling
on the High Tension lines mainly in Baga and Arpora.  This
causes the Baga and Arpora feeders to be shut down for repairs,
for several hours at a stretch and sometimes for a whole day.
The problem is that hundreds of consumers in Saligao and Nagoa on
those feeders are also deprived of electricity during that time.
Food goes bad, production stops and life generally comes to a
standstill in all the houses and establishments upline from the
substation in Saligao to the scene of the accident.
When a tree falls on the HT lines we suggest that the line be
isolated from the that point onwards, so that life can go on
normally in villages upline.  We know that this is technically
possible by installing switches at all the transformers so that
the line can be switched off downline from the point of the
accident and the area isolated for repairs.  This will ensure
that life goes on normally and consumers between the Saligao
substation and the point of the accident are not held to ransom
by the Electricity department.
This has gone on for too many years.  Given the advancement of
switch technology, such primitive repair methods have to stop
immediately.  Please install the necessary switches at the
earliest so that hundreds of innocent consumers are not
penalised for such long hours at a stretch, for no fault of
theirs.
Thank you.
