Hello Annette,

It appears we see more of each other here on the Saligaonet than in real. What happened to Dotor_bab?  I missed on the news I guess....nevertheless, I do hope he is on the road to Good Health if he isnt there allready.

I was down in Saligao in August and I must say that along with my boys (11 & 7 yrs), I had a frolicking time at the 'Salmona Zor'. . . . bringing back all the memories of our younger days... when we boys would regularly frequent the Spring and the hill around collecting and eating the various fruits found. Some of those were (Derek /(late Stanley) Menezes, Mario/Carlito Gonsalves, Julius Sequiera, Edgar Remedious, Seby Mascarhenas, my brother Francis and Erson Viegas from Arpora) .

Despite all the buzz about the water possibly  being contaminated, I was surprised to see many people living in the vicinity of the spring, carrying pots full of water home for their consumption.  I did talk to some and they said they have been using the spring water for years now......

It was disheartening though !!!....to see that monstrous 2-storey house already up and nearing completion right at the mouth of the Spring. It is indeed sad....that the people in power(concerned Authorities) give a damn about the enviromental encroachment at this very pristine, sylvan and ethnic enclave which our beloved Saligaonkars have prided themselves with, for over a century!!!  :(  :(  :(    The supposed clearance of building licenses / occupancy certificate by the issuing authorities smack of total disregard to 'Vox Populi' and nothing but corruption. This only goes to prove that old adage  "money can buy" ..  ..  ..  anything and anyone... least those who have no values and are morally corrupt in their souls.

The efforts, hard work and pains of the many Mario's and Muriel's seem to have just flown down the rivulets of the Salmona Spring... It is a sad scenario for all of us .....
