Dear Saligao Kollos & Kollies   It have been a long time since I posted any messages, but suffice to say, the rat race has completely engulfed me! While I do read all the postings, I respond only if I have something to contribute. Fred, Miguel, Fr Nasiment and Annette do keep up the interesting postings. You certainly are the most active contributors.   Besides my full time work commitments, I support a local community paper (Brisbane Indian Times) with free photographic coverage for Indian and other ethnic community events. Recently, the Queensland government recognized my work by commissioning me to cover 3 multicultural events for Brisbane. Diversity Talks! Was a multicultural forum organized by the Queensland Government and Griffith University in exploring the impact of Australian culture on culturally diverse musical forms. Featuring Miguel Ayma – Bolivian panpipe, bamboo flute and Charango player; Nii Armah – Ghanaian singer dancer and drummer; Dya Singh a Malaysian Sikh musician and Erik Griswald an American eclectic and improvisational pianist-composer. Queensland Multicultural Festival – a huge festival with around 50 thousand people attending the over 100 acts at 6 stages with numerous roving performances in the Roma street parklands. For more details see: http://www.premiers.qld.gov.au/multicultural/awardsevents/maq_festival/index.shtm Diversity Rocks!  An opportunity for primary school students & teachers from grades 5 to 7 to participate in an opportunity to learn about dance, music and sport from different cultures via interactive workshops. Two sessions with each containing over 900 students. The climax of each session was a drumming spectacular where each students was given an African Djembe drum and participated with their instructors Photos from the first two events are available to view on my site: www.louisphotos.com.au and clicking on EVENTS. Unfortunately due to privacy restrictions, Diversity Rocks! cannot be displayed publicly.   Brisbane Indian Times recently held their second Multicultural Community Service Awards and I won the award in the category of photographer for my community involvement.
