When I was in Saligao, we used to celebrate a great feast of Sonarbhatt and
that is the serenade from the little chapel in Sonarbhatt to the Church and
back.
I recall this but have never joined the procession, guess I missed out eh?
Yeh, we always remember A.Peggy whenever there was something going on in
Arrarim. This 26th I remembered her because one year, before the feast day,
she was running around as she wanted to decorate that small niche where
statue of Our Lady was kept near Granduncle Remigio's house. Also remember
Titus with his flowers, etc. (another of the many relatives in Saligao - I
think most people in Saligao are related to each other, arent they?)
Uncle Remigio was there in person to subervise the work but his presence
was a must in the procession and his famous hym O brillant .
Oh yeh! Granduncle was supervisor, I learnt the hymn because of him - it
used to sound good, dignified, stately & was & still is a very catchy tune
even if I didnt know the meaning but got translation from Dad later on.
I'm sure others are following in same vein with regard to decorations,
arrangements, procession, arent they? Hey Albert! you are missing out on
all this by staying out of Saligao eh? Too bad!
