Brother Pio Rego, From Saligao Making Waves

 

Brother Pio Rego is the protagonist  of the original creative interactive drama to be presented at the Vidhya Dhiraj Bhavan, Vasco  on 7th December, 2005, at 6.30. p.m.

 

“Paul At The  Areopagus” is the name of the drama and is presented by the Seminarians from Pilar Seminary.

 

Paul once persecuted the Christians but then became a Christian himself. He was a robust traveler, towering intellectual, fiery preacher. He wrote his letters about 1950 years ago to guide ordinary Christians and had discussions with philosophers, thinkers and politicians at a place called Areopagus  The issues he faced in his times are similar to ours today. Lay preachers ? Eucharist? Divisions? Women? Youth? Marriage ?e was a Roburst Traveller, Towering Intelectual, Fiery Preacher. He wrote H

The musical play brings out some of these issues, interpreting the letters of Paul in a modern, entertaining style.. The play has an interactive drama technique. It basically uses English but also has Konkani in the sequence

 

The musical score  for this drama is written by another Saligaokar Fr. Dominic Alvares,( relative of  late C. Alvares) Professor of Pilar Seminary along with Bro. Cidloy Furtado.  The first show was on 2nd December at Church Square, Navelim and it was a huge success.

Brother Pio Rego is the son of late Aleixo Rosario Rego and Idalina Rego from Mollebhatt, Saligao. He is the student of the 3rd Year of Theology at Pilar Seminary.and brother of Rev. Deacon Leslie Rego.

 

In an informal talk with Brother Pio, he said,’ he enjoys his role in this musical drama. and  is indebted to his mother and brothers and sister who encouraged him to participate in dramas. The professors at Pilar Seminary recognizing such dramatic  qualities chose him to be the main character of “Paul at the new Areopagus”. We wish  Pilar Seminarians and their Staff  a very big success..
