THE OTHER DAY St Xavier's College at Mapusa had their alumni day. For
it, it was a reunion of a number of Saligaokars. Quennie "Annie"
Saldanha-Sequeira, who taught in the college and is now in the US, was
the chief guest. Alice (Barneto) D'Cruz is a student-turned-lecturer at
the SXC. Her sister Elizabeth, now in Australia, was there too.
Ex-student Vilma (D'Mello) Rex-D'Souza was there too. So was Stella from
Canada/Arrarim.

Finally, I met up with Nympha D'Souza <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> who has
corresponded quite a bit in the past. She visits Saligao every couple of
years. Nympha is a scientist doing biomedical research. Some time back,
she was awarded a grant of $1.25M by the US National Institutes of
Health (NIH) for a project "Alcohol, apopotosis and lung opportunistic
infections". Dr Nympha D'Souza is at the MPH University of Kentucky
Internal Medicine/Pulmonary Division Lexington, KY.

Nice to be in touch with all. Do stay in touch with Saligaonet. FN

PS: Xavier's announced the planned launch, in a few weeks, of Xavier
Radio, it's campus radio station. It will be broadcasting initially for
just an hour a day, and could have a range of upto six kms. Wonder if it
will reach Saligao too!
