Please help us to introduce Saligaonet to more people in/from the village, who
would like to keep in touch...

I think Anthony aka 'Long Tony' mentioned his fifth standard class
teacher at Lourdes Convent. She taught a generation and more of
students, much like other long-time teachers (Miss Joanita comes to mind
too, though there would be others.) Here's something picked up from the
latest school souvenir, available for Rs 20 at the school:

Our hearts are filled with gratitude....

Mrs Lyra Da Costa joined Lourdes Convent on the 1st of June, 1967, as
teacher of English and Geography. She contributed silently towards the
upliftment of our institution for 38 long years and resigned on 30th of
June, 2005.

She has thus been one of the pillars of Lourdes Convent Highi School,
that has stood solid as a rock, inspite of turbulent times.

We deeply appreciate the keen interest Mrs Lyra took in each child,
placed under her care. Her knowledge of the background, talents and
problems of each child speaks volumes for her motherly care and concern
for our young minds and hearts that have crossed her path.

Mrs Lyra, always modest in her attire and humble in her approach, lived
a down-to-earth and simple life. These were the values we have to
emulate to follow the pathways to success and happiness.

We are grateful to Mrs Lyra for her long, dedicated and generous service
to Lourdes Convent High School and wish her many years of good health
and a happy retired life. God bless her and keep her safe always....
