St Xavier's College at Mapusa (many of us have studied here) has a
programme of building a "special relationship with our neighbouring
parishes" and schools.

Says the college: "All the neighbouring parishes constitute a nursery
for us, as they supply students to our college. If these youngsters from
the parish are made aware of the different programmes and activities
which are available in the college, they can avail of these services and
develop their personality".

It has organised a 12-day 'healthy living and football training' in
Nachinola, and a football and volleyball camp at Carona (Aldona). It has
also conducted subject updates, seminars and workshops for school
teachers, and sent a list of career options for schools' notice boards.
Programmes on themes like rainwater harvesting, etc are held in the
college.

Wouldn't it be nice if Saligao too was involved in such activities?
Copying this to the current principal Newman Fernandes, who many of us
know in diverse capacities -- including a psychology lecturer and head
of the college library earlier. FN
