I think Gladstone meant this mesg. for Saligaonet so am forwarding the
same. It gives us a little more information with regard to Alfred's sudden
illness.
He probably has the same problem that I have. Before, if we replied to any
message that we received through Saligaonet, it would go to Saligaonet
address. Now, if we click the reply button, we will get the email address
of the person sending out the mesg. So we have to delete that from the To
section & type out Saligaonet email address... confusion ...but that's the
problem.

Alfred was always a great personality a loving father. He was the guitar
person of our ward together with Gordon they used to go around the ward
with
all the children including mine singing Christmas Carols. In fact the last
31st December we were with him.
I had just returned home after some bank audit work in Bangalore at about
8.30 p.m. and relaxing in my sofa set when I saw Lalitha entering our house
with the sad news. At first I thought that her father was bad and needed to
be taken over to the hospital then I thought it was Aunty Joan and was
shocked to hear that it was Alfie.It was 10.30 pm when this occurred. The
only people at his house was his three beautiful kids, his mum, her maid
and
Lalitha to be with his mum in case she were to have an attack. Lalitha only
informed her that Alfie was crirical as she herself has undergone two
bypass
surgeries.
He had consulted Dr. Chandrasekhar the previous day who found nothing
wrong.
He had an inner feeling that there was something wrong with him. He
travelled to Appollo Victor hospital on 3rd and did a stress test. The
doctor advised him to stay in the hospital but he prefered to stay at his
sister's place in Fatorda. At about 4 pm on that fateful day he complained
of chest pain as they were preparing him for the engoplast which was to be
done on the 5th morning. I phoned up Dr. Chandrasekhar this morning but
could not reach him. He however called me at about 11am. and informed me
exactly what had happened. In fact Aunty Joan had called him up around 730
this morning and informed him that Alfred was critical. Dr. Ch. then spoke
to Dr. Kandolkar the heart specialist attached to Appollo Victor. Alfred
died of cardiac Arrest.
I as one of his close neighbours am experiencing the shock and start
getting
emotional when I see his little beautiful, beautiful children. All that I
and my family can do is to pray for the soul of Alfie and for GOD to take
care of his family. And with tears rolling down my cheeks I end this
letter.

Such news is always hard to bear especially if one's peer was not old or
sick as is the case with Alfred. Remember the good times, & hold on to your
memories, Maxwell. Because when it comes to the crunch, that is what we are
left with & we can carry on.

Alfred's brother Eric was my peer. But I remember Alfred & Claire very
well - youngsters compared to us.

Yes Maxwell that is true - we always say - God takes the good ones first -
it is His way of warning us that life is short & it is His to do as He
wills. & He is giving us a chance to prepare ourselves & perhaps mend our
ways? Follow Alfred's good example. Think of Alfred as being in a better
place than us. We hold that thought & continue to pray for his family so
that they are given the strength to bear their loss.

I recall this too since I was in Saligao then - that bit of news about
Maxwell's brother getting a heart attack on the road was schocking too.
Guess he is doing ok now. I can imagine his state of mind now but prayers
help us get strength to deal with whatever life throws at us.
May eternal rest be granted to Alfred! May his soul rest in peace.
