We can teach our kids the power of communicating, lessons in language and narration, and the importance of understanding the local history, geography and people. Of course they need help. Riza can barely read. But I get her to narrate to me what she wants to say, and egg her on by asking her questions, discussing what might be good topics to write on, etc. Like any other kid, she picks up the cues fast. And gets a big high when she gets feedback! Her two-and-half year old brother saw her and insisted he wanted a 'blog' of his own. It doesn't make much sense, but it's out there at http://arengoa.blogspot.com I always say that people can write if they are convinced they can! Let's convince kids here that they can. In some years time, we might ourselves be suprised by the results. Do encourage your kids Zelma. Any help needed, just let me know. Of course, this is definitely not rocket-science. I would like to help Lourdes Convent students get into writing with once-a-month mentoring if we can get enough youngsters interested.
