Here's a note from Allwyn. Since my dad was himself in the plumbing business for quite a while (and he trained a number of youngsters from the village too, like Madan and Tukaram, and quite some others) one can say that it's a chicken-and-egg situation.
Those offering services don't get the (regular) business. Those needing the service, don't know how to get to the persons offering the service. As this situation becomes worse, many opt out of the trade. Can we use online directories or mobile phones to help link those offering the services, and those needing it? Dear Rico, thanks for all the update and sorry that I couldnt reply in time due to my work schedule - thanks anyway but Im sure the Saligao folks would agree with you and we need some kind of a directory of services for our village - for example carpentars - when you need one you cant get one so easily - good old Mr.Cassian was the last I can think of , he even extended his services by making wooden crosses and decorating the graves ( may his Soul Rest in Peace ) Even plumbers are hard to find nowadays - the other day I had an urgent job to be done and called one plumber from Cotula and wasted the whole day waiting for him - he promised but never turned up - finally I traced him in a taverna !!
